I agree 100%. The stock Bechmade Bugout is a winning design. I have a few and I usually plan to keep them stock, but, so far, I have not. Though, in various mixes, I have titanium, thicker G10, thinner G10 and titanium hardware on my Bugouts, the base version exemplifies the characteristics that makes the Bugout an excellent and fully capable design. Ultimately, as with many tools, the best one is the one you have with you.

Hello. Thanks for this vid you have reassured me. I have that exact same Bugout but have never really used it though i carry it as a backup because of it's weight. It feels so fragile in my oversized hands with those short liners. Also we hear so often about the springs breaking and i am in a country where replacing them would be problematic. Awesome place to do a video! All the best, good health and stay safe.

I got this same knife yesterday! I was surprised it was noticeably lighter and smaller than my Bailout M4. And that was the lightest, smallest knife I’ve carried before. A lot of people like to pretend that the scales are fragile and they’ll break on you, but I’m already starting to see why they are just looking for excuses to swap them for g10.

I'm 58 have spent thousands on knives, have about 100 folders now,the perfect edc knife has not been made yet. I have buck,cold steel,civid,kershaw, sog,benchmade and many more, benchmade gray bugout is what fits me the most. My quest for the perfect edc knife is life quest and will continue lol
@Harleywindtherapy Жыл бұрын
@@davidtaylor4359 I do understand that! I'm 55... my knives bought list is only maybe a few dozen... but my carry ones have been less than 5 for any length of time my whole life. I suppose I am what I am at this point. I still own 2 versions of the bugout - a standard and a Cf elite. Neither made the pocket for a week, lol. 940, several mini grips and a full size grip I got in 4th ID...a half dozen spydercos... nothing is just right as you said. Today I used my favorite beater that I've carried most of the past 10 years to open packages, scrape off a wasp's nest by the front doorjamb, prep food for supper, and help to reassemble some equipment I moved a town over. I once cut a tire off my jeep rim with that same knife! I've about decided to buy a backup for it... it used to cost $20...it costs $35ish... but as much as I love the idea of the nice edc folder, I still go back to my usual. My family has appreciated it...I've given a lot of quality knives away, haha!

@@jamessmith5437 its a 100-130$ knife, specifically marketed to be lightweight. It comes with plastic handles to cut down on the weight. Love the Bugout. I beat the absolute F out of my old GRY-1 when I had my old channel as a call out to another youtuber after his moronic video about it being “bad bad bad” and shared my video in his comments. He never responded. Probably felt too stupid after watching me baton, tip test, spine whack, and generally beat the hell out of the knife he claimed he could snap with his bare hands. Lol
@rhino54193 жыл бұрын
Lol. I think you mean Mr W. I saw that too, never liked the guy. He goes into reviews having already made up his mind before looking at something. I saw it because of the clickbait. As i did the one where he said he was changing from the 940 to the Kershaw fastball just after the Benchemade arms destruction thing. Though he said it had nothing to do with that. Lol. All the best.

The Bigout is my favorite EDC knife as well. I paid retail for mine, roughly $180. If I found some at $100, I’d buy as many as I could afford.
@EddietheApe4 жыл бұрын
Loved the review, so I picked up the same knife. I have a question though, was your bug out snappy right out the box? Or did you have to break it in? It's my first Benchmade. When I disengage the axis lock my blade does not drop.
@beardedgear4 жыл бұрын
Mine wasn’t quite as smooth as it is now, but it did break in naturally. If it’s really stiff you can always adjust the pivot tightness. The last two Benchmade knives I bought came too tight and I loosened the pivots slightly and added KPL. The bugout I got didn’t need it though.

I have been looking at this knife for awhile. If you have the mini by now, how much of a size difference is there between the Bugout and the Mini Bugout? I'd like to be able to find it for closer to the $100 or $114 mark

See, $100 is a price I could get behind for this knife. $150 (BHQ Price) is where I start to grumble a bit. I know you said in your Hogue Deka review that you don't think the Deka was meant to dethrone the Bugout, and I totally agree, but I still think that, unless you value weight over literally everything else, the Deka is just way more bang for your buck when their prices are about equal. Again, a lot of that comes down to preference, but on 20cv alone, the Deka is enticing. It's interesting how price dictates how we feel about knives sometimes. I didn't realize it until now, hearing you say you got a Bugout for $100. The Bugout really wasn't for me in its base configuration (can't handle the squishy scales), yet, suddenly, when I hear that I might be able to get one for $100, something goes off in my head that says "Actually, that sounds good to me."
@beardedgear2 жыл бұрын
