Sometimes we have to face structural problems on trees and we have to solve them with good tecnique in order to create a beautiful bonsai . Ponderosa pine is one of the most US native pines but we have to know the way how to bend properly parts of the trunk to compact and create a credible stucture . In this video bending is the key and Mauro tells you all about the correct strategy for this challenge.

I guess you have to snap a few branches before you know how far to push bending branches. I have broken too many to do those type of bends. I do mine slowly over time. It's amazing to see you do your work. Beutiful. I try to constantly study trees in nature and great bonsai. Seeing the potential in a tree still does not come naturally to me. Maybe some day. Preferred the tree with the old bark the tree looked majestic, the spiral look (in my opinion) was because I can.

Ponderosa pine are prone to borers. So bark over dead trunk is removed to prevent pests.
