Күн бұрынMy @MaxJax sprung a leak on on of the lift towers. The hydraulic ram started leaking out the bottom seal on the ram. I picked up a set of seals from @lazzarsfloorjackhydraulicc8238
The new seals came in - and the bottom seal wasn't too hard to replace - the top seal is a bit more tricky.

Thank you for this video! I just got done lowering my car and I noticed a green half circle laying beside the Max Jax plate as soon as I saw it I looked up underneath and saw that the green ring was deteriorating.... I've had my Max Jax now for over 10 years so I'm sure this was bound to happen... I had no clue how to take this apart or rebuild it so I'll be doing this next weekend.

The green o ring is the easy one to replace. I replaced the other o ring on the inside of the hydraulic ram - and its leaking worse then it was before. There is a seep hole above the green o-ring. I may have put it in backwards - its totally possible. I will post an update here in a little bit.

@@bonecrrusherSS Awesome thank you! One really dumb question. When you say you hit it with a punch and turned left. Was bottom piece facing the ground or up pointing in the air? I ask this because if I am looking at it right. If I am trying to unscrew/loosen the bottom part. If it's facing the ground like if it was in the lift housing going counter clockwise would actually be a different direction that if the ram was facing up in the air like how you are showing up after the bottom portion is removed. I hope that makes sense. What I don't want to do is hold it the incorrect way and tightening it rather than loosening it because I am looking at it backwards...lol

Does the flange on the gasket point up toward the top of the piston or down

@@79_cj7 the cylinder sits on the rod end when in working position, the wiper seal on the cap you remove has a lip that points towards the rod end. The U cup seal on the piston has the lip pointing away from the rod end, the oil flows into the fitting attached, into the rod, through the center of the rod, then out the other end of the rod and then starts filling the cylinder and pushing the lip of the cup seal outward towards the walls of the cylinder.

Bad video, bad advice… people the top is the black wiper it’s not even really a seal just a wiper for the shaft… if you have problems or take it apart pull the chrome rod out of the black cylinder and there is where that white cup seal goes that’s the actual working seal for the cylinder… there is a weep hole behind the black wiper that will start leaking fluid out indicating cylinder seal issue… the wiper is for keeping dirt out of cylinder

That "black" seal is green from Danmar - I replaced the top seal as well - and one still leaked.

The black seal is just a wiper it’s not really a seal. The white one is the hydraulic piston seal that’s really the seal to replace.
