The first example involving Service 901M used rear door for mass boardng, which is not allowed during normal ops, had shortened the dwell time. So it would easily passed 4 minutes under normal circumstances. Bendies never need so much time at bus stops. But LTA insisted on DDs instead, due to space savings especially at new generation ITHs. They just stubbornly don't buy the idea of bendies in SG roads(they never wanted it all along, that's why those bendies that we saw over the last decades were all bought by one bus company instead). SBST tested out but rejected. TIBS tested out and love it!! Those living along the service areas of TIBS/SMRT BUSES will definitely see the benefits of bendies, especially in high passenger traffic areas, like in this video, Admiralty station, in which whole bus disembark and embarking. Sadly, LTA decision makers don't live here. Or worst, they don't even take public transportation on a daily basis! LTA did try to alleviate some bottle neck issues with the introduction of 3 door DDs, but effects not as great as bendies, because contrary to their design intentions, many passengers are still not making use of the 2nd staircase and the 3rd door. And some companies deployed these buses on CBD services, which I don't see ultra high boarding and disembarking at bus stops lor!! Which is defeating in purpose.

Indeed the bendies. Singapore should follow Europe and buy more bendy buses! When I went on vacation to Germany once, I noticed most of the buses were either single deck, if not high capacity buses are bendies. Some buses like the MB CapaCity has 4 doors for super efficient boarding and alighting! That's why SG should buy more bendies for us.

Never have a ride on an articular bus before because buses longer than 12.8m is simply not allowed in Hong Kong (Just like the giant 15m Neoplan Megaliner). All buses are mainly double-decker with a low percentage of single decker. Never seen an articular bus in Hong Kong and no bus company trying to get them into Hong Kong. Both of them have their own benefits: Both of them can handle high capacity easily But the articular bus is better for short route because passages would not get to second floor if they only need to have a ride on one or two station Double-deckers are better for long route so that passages can have a comfy ride seating on the bus. It will be a terribly idea using an articular bus to run a route which passages need to stand on the bus for over one hour.

It’s sad that LTA doesn’t believe in bendy buses but they really need to make the right choice here in purchasing more bendy buses because they make sense. There’s definitely a good reason why TIB bought so many bendy buses to begin with because it just made more sense to put bendy buses on feeder bus services instead of double decker buses. Now I really wonder what’s the fate of bus service 858 is going to be like since they’re only going to have 1 bendy bus under Tower Transit even though they’re a high demand bus service. I’m no transport expert but I feel that LTA had good intentions of introducing the BCM and the idea is good but I don’t like how it’s being executed here In Singapore and I think it caused more issues and inconvenience for some bus services like 858.

More bendies should be deployed on feeder services where more people only have to board for a few stops to alight, so they are willing to stand instead of taking a seat upstairs in a double decker for example. Same thing applies for buses that are busy but can only deploy single deckers due to height restrictions (buses that go to the airport). Service 27 would greatly benefit from bendies because they would reduce number of deployments needed, therefore reducing the risk of bus bunching. Same thing applies for service 159 (height restriction at Bradell flyover) as buses to AMK are always crowded in the morning

Technically the results were abit unfair as it wasn't in the same location, if it were to be at the same station, probably the results will be more reliable

Bendy buses are much better, much more comfortabe. They can take more people than non bend buses. Double decker? The 2nd floor will break under the weight of the crowd

For a more accurate comparison, you need to have the same amount of passengers, boarding and alighting the bus. In this video you used 901M and 858, both also have different passenger numbers, not really a very fair experiment to tell if dd or bendy is better tbh

Not the fairest of comparisons since the number of passengers are slightly different it's true that the passenger flower on bendy buses tend to be much smoother. The problem with DDs is people don't want to get onto the upper deck since their journeys are short-haul + overcrowding on the staircase.

If you have buses with twice the capacity but half the average speed (due to longer stops), you TECHNICALLY have the same throuput, but individuals experience that half-speed as travel simply taking twice as long. I think longer articulated buses would be a huge win here.
