Well it's for several reasons...but I can understand with you

I'm polish and I actually don't think it's true (or I did not understand maybe). Sure you can study when you have a baby... you can even take a break and come back in a period of 5 years. But... it would be hard (especially when you're a foreigner) to get an insurance during that period of time. It means you have to "stick" to someone's else health insurance: - your husband's who works (so 2 students with a child is kind of DIFFICULT thing) - your parents' ... when you're less than 26, - yours ... when you're working "full time" ... and by that I don't consider 8 hours /5 days a week, but having a permanent job which is called a job on "umowa o pracę" = contract of employment (with no date of expire).. :)

Your spouse gets all benefits aside maternity leave benefits as she's not working...all the husband needs to do is ensure she's under his insurance(NFZ)

You get all the benefits as long as you are paying taxes and you have NFZ insurance, your marital status doesn't matter, just your legal status in the country
