What's the difference between Drops MT3 profile and SA keycaps? Using the Black on White MT3 Keycaps from Drop and comparing them to SA keycaps. Can it do better for gaming or is it just for typing experience?

I have zero accidental presses on the MT3 set. It’s great. Have thought about putting them on a low profile base.

That's great. Putting the MT3 on a lower profiled base could help if you don't like how high the keycaps are but love the profile.

I've been using mt3's for about 6 months now and I have to say that they are the most comfortable keycaps I have ever used. And they look super dope. I can see how the height would be an issue for some people. But, I hover my wrists above the board, so no issues there.

Definitely one of the more comfortable keycap sets that I've used. Learned to hover my wrists when using the set.

Matt3o MT3 /dev /tty is made of PBT iirc. The Susuwatari is ABS Doubleshot

Hey man, good video. I personally prefer the SA profile over MT3 simply because I find the MT3 scoop a bit too aggressive especially when hitting keys with my thumb. Also, a correction to your video. Drop does sell PBT MT3 keycaps - the Elvish and Dwarvish keycap sets you showed in this video are dye-subbed PBT. There's also the /dev/tty keycap set which was the first MT3 set to be sold, if I am not wrong.

Thanks for catching that. I unfortunately didn't go through all the listings for the MT3 profile. I have now. And the following are in dye sublimated PBT at time of writing. Also remember that their "Elvish" and "Dwarvish" are not real Tolkien runes. They made it 100% up which baffles me since they have the license rights.

I don't agree on the wrist rest or the angle, although my situation is different. I have a split board that each have different angle positions on both axis to maximize comfort. I touch type but hover my wrists ( so I never even use my wrist pads). They never lay down but maybe that is because of my carpal tunnel(?) Even if I didn't feel pain laying down my wrists, I type faster hovering anyways since I can incorporate more movement. My highest is 166wpm but avg at 140. I like speed typing but the importance is in comfort and mitigation of injury. I could see a struggle reaching on the upper rows without the wrist rest for those that do not hover type. These keycaps are tall man! Great video thank you for the content.

Ah, yeah, I've tried hover typing, always ended up with my wrists pressing against the table, so ended up buying wrist rest to mitigate the issue. But yes, I do need to leave the wrist rest when hitting the number keys. Thanks for the information and complement, Much appreciated.

I have MT3 etc/tty and the Susuwatari. I also have two sets of SA’s. For me the MT3 is significantly more comfortable.

Having used an IBM Beamspring keyboard (the best I've every used, by far), the MT3 profile is just about perfect for me.

Great to hear! I've only heard of and seen the IBM keyboards through photos, but the profiles look similar. Makes me wonder if its identical.

That is true, Only noticed thanks to an earlier comment. I updated the description and made a comment reply to the mistake mentioning the MT3 are just ABS. Includes a list for people to find which are PBT at time of writing.

Just checked, yes, Serika is PBT. Made a comment that I missed on the MT3 keycaps that had PBT at the time. Updated the description, list should be there. added in Serika, from the original comment I made.

Since the large cavity affects the sound, they do stick out a lot more than regular keycaps unfortunately.

Good info. One detail: you absolutely don't touch type. Using literally 4 fingers instead of 2 isn't touch typing. And most of all, using your goddamn index finger to press the spacebar isn't touch typing. It's how 8 year olds that have never typed on a keyboard before type.

listen pal, ive seen enough sound tests to know that people who have unorthodox typing styles can whip the fuck outta my 100wpm in a more traditional typing stance .. its ignorant, rude and insulting that you are so shallow minded that you think it matters, but just so you know, 'touch typing' in any book is typing without looking at the keyboard

Thanks. As far as I was aware touch typing is just typing without having to look at the keys. But yes, I do not use the traditional correct way to touch type. Simply felt more comfortable using my index when using the spacebar.

Wow dude, let people type however they want. And @Enthusiast Impressions is correct in that touch typing is essentially "typing without looking and relying on muscle memory". If you play piano and are able to produce music, but aren't classically trained with regards to form and technique, that doesn't mean you don't play the piano...
