I didn't have a dog in the fight, but I was pulling for the underdog. The 3rd and goal holding was brutal, and I didn't like that it was called, but Cincy did not score after Stafford's second pick led to a FG. The Rams won because Aaron Donald took over and Raheem Morris made great adjustments. The officials did not lose this game for Cincy. The Rams won it. Congrats, and hats off to them.

@Anthony De Los Santos right, can’t leave it to the refs. We didn’t have good adjustments all fourth quarter. Got away from the run and when it came to crutch time their defense stepped up as well as their offense.

I'm a Bengals fan. You can never blame the refs. You have 60 minutes to win a game. Calls went both ways. Refs miss calls. It's part of the game. Both teams played well. It was a good game.

I’m all for bitching about bad calls. But everyone being like “footballs gotten so bad. Football ain’t like it used to be” please just shut up. There have been bad/missed calls since day 1 of the nfl. Even one of the greatest plays in NFL history the immaculate reception is controversial. This isn’t new

The NFL is in the entertainment business. Nothing wrong about making a few bad calls to favor one team to create a great story. It’s no different than Hollywood writing a script to give viewers hope and a dream.

A lot of the problem is the expectation that the Refs should ‘let ‘em play’ in the Super Bowl. All the way back in 99 the Patriots were holding the Ram receivers and nothing got called due to the refs letting them play. Truthfully, the super bowl should be called as every other game is. If a team wants to win, they need to play clean. Expecting the refs to allow holding or interference just because it’s the Super Bowl is inviting these controversies. The officiating was terrible all game. Both teams were hurt by it. Unless the NFL decides to enforce the rules it will continue to be a problem

Unsportsmanlike conduct and they had their own bunch of holding that wasn’t called. That isn’t why they lost. They lost because the Rams shut down their offense in the entire second half

Burrow was sacked 7 times. The refs will blow calls every game. Those sacks will eat into your potential to win way more than bad calls or no calls

@@Jack-ot1zq Ram fans are not concerned with "no calls" in the 1st half. But the start of the 3rd quarter was an obvious penalty (Higgins causing Ramsey to hit the ground by way of facemask pull) that didn't get called against the Bengals.

The problem with the refs is they're inconsistent. They let a lot of blatant stuff go throughout the game, and then make up for it in the end with some ticky tack stuff. There needs to be consistency with all officials, but especially in the NFL.

I'm a steelers fan. I respect the crap out of burrow. Fact of the matter is The O-line failed him again in the 2nd half and it came back to get em' this time. I truly believe if the O-line were any good, bengals get this one. It's a shame they didn't take it because man the AFC QB pool is going to be stacked moving forward. Not for my steelers though, we had a good ride. Time to lay in the gutter for a while. I've accepted it.

@@ericburgmeier1100 Thanks. Without a doubt it was the O-Line. When the Rams made the adjustment to exploit the weakness left by double teaming Donald it was over. I really liked the the Steeler's Bengals rivalry has stepped it down a notch in toxicity. The level of QB talent is amazing. 2023 draft should have some good qbs

Great points. Bengals benefited from a large amount of no-calls. Another that upset me was when at least 4 Bengals players hit Aaron Donald in the head and upper body, REACHING OVER AND ACROSS REFS TO DO IT and NO ONE was called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Aaron didn't start that. He properly pushed Joe Burrow out of bounds and the play was over. I've rarely seen anything so blatant. It was more obvious than the facemasking TD that should have been disallowed.

there was an awful lot of pass interference when a bengals corner would hold the arm of the rams receiver so he couldn't get any separation or be able to catch the ball. It happened numerous times. Terrible officiating.

By your desire you want to see backyard no penalty football which transforms the game from one of rules to no holds barred bullshite. Just like todays NBA is nowhere near what the NBA was during Magic/Bird 80s when traveling, double dribbling, standing in the lane longer than 3 seconds actually were penalties compared to the crap that is not called today. Bengals got away with flagrant fouls not being called against them in all their playoff games this year. They were the team you know the NFL wanted to play in the SB - and win it. Until Cooper Kupp decided enough was enough.

The undeniable fact is that these refs are so consistently and egregiously terrible in every game, for every team. There's absolutely no consistency in what gets called or doesn't, to the point where no one even knows what these penalties are half the time. When even the announcers in the SUPER BOWL of all things, question the legitimacy of calls or non-calls three separate times, there is a problem.

I think that the best crews should get the playoff assignments, and not the best individual officials. I bet that some of the missed calls are due to miscommunication among officials who aren't used to working together.

I'm a 56 years old Canadian from Vancouver Canada and I've been a lifelong Rams fan going back to the mid 70's. I stuck with them when they moved to St. Louis and now back to LA. Jalen Ramsey was in better position than Higgins and would've probably picked the ball but instead went for a bogus TD. Later in the 2nd half when the Rams were struggling Stafford threw a ball to Van Jefferson and the replay clearly showed the corner had held Jeffersons arm and he couldn't reach for the ball. How many non calls do you need to be happy?

That Logan Wilson hold was egregious. Sorry, he didn't impede him AT ALL. I also agree that Tee Higgins got away with a penalty though.

He did hold him. You can argue it wasn't a lot, but he did. If you look at the play cloase, Wilson grabs Kupp's waist with his right hand and pulls, causing Kupp's body to rotate and fall backwards, thus giving himself room to reach his arm and bat the pass down.

As a bengals fan, it was a missed opportunity by the team. I don’t think they played their best football this game and missed some plays they normally make , I don’t think burrow played his best and missed some opportunities I know he’s gonna be upset about, Zach Taylor made some coaching errors, but they are young and it is the Super Bowl that no one expected them to make. Now after this game no late season game or playoff game should ever be too big of a moment for us. I believe in the next 4 years one of those years we will be make it back and will have to finish the job. Love this young scrappy team we have and a unbelievable season that fell just short

@@RonJohn63 At least as bad. It directly led to 7 points, it shifted the field position NINETY yards, and it was in the Super Bowl. It should have been 1st and 25 at the Bengals 10.

Officials are conscious about not effecting the outcome of the game - so they don't call penalties - which affects the outcome of the game. They get scared to call things, then they do "make-up" calls to even out their mistakes. Its gross and avoidable. Call the games as dictated by the rules and if teams continually flout the rules - make them pay in draft picks.

As a Bengal's fan, (and unpaid analyst, lol) I watched a lot film leading into the game, Cupp is frickin amazing. His understanding of route running and making people miss is something that so many WR, TE and even RBs should study. The subtly and slight misdirection is all it takes for him to gain massive separation (well, at the NFL level).

I have always said I would rather them just call penalties. No "let them play". I know people are not about that but it's just so inconsistent. The whole game would have been different if they just called penalties when they see a real penalty. refs at any game are so bipolar anymore.

Exactly what I've been telling Bengals fans. Give us back the Higgins TD and I'll give you back that 3rd down. You were only ahead b/c of bad officiating. It balanced out and then your guys had 1:38 and two timeouts to tie or win it. That's plenty of opportunity.

the number 1 penalty that doesn't get called as much has it should is defensive holding or illegal contact. Watch how many times receivers either get held or the defense makes contact more than 5 yards down field.

Excuses don’t win the game. Bengals still had 2 opportunities to win that game after the holding call and failed at keeping the Rams out of the end zone. Then they had the chance to go win it and instead of using the short pass game they try running it twice for a first down. Instead they’re forced into a 4th down pass in which Aaron Donald played unreal and bull rushed the OL and got to Joe Burrow before he had time to get the ball out to a wide open Jamar Chase. Remember legacies are tied to what you did do in the clutch not what the refs did.

The problem with the Kupp hold was Ramsey did the SAME thing early in the game and it was never called and cost Cincy a TD and they had to settle for 3. Refs were inconsistent all night, worst called SB since SB 40.

It's easy to say the Bengals will be back, young team with a TON of cap space. But getting to the SB is HARD. Rodgers hasn't been back in 10+years, Brees only got one, Big Ben 10+years without one. This may of been the Bengals only shot in a long long time

The Bengals were projected to be a 8 win team this season. They got to the SB despite a terrible oline. They have the 4th most cap space. They will fix the line, and improve a SB caliber team. Almost rookie Joe Burrow, and rookie Jamaar Chase will be even better next year. Joe Burrow is way ahead of schedule, and had a worse offensive line than any of those QBs you mention.

@@astevens6539 you're absolutely right, but that's no guarantee they get back to the SB. Every thing had to go right for the Bengals to get to the SB, and it did. The stars aligned perfectly for them. You can have the best team in the league, but you still need to have some luck. I think Burrow gets back at some point in his career, but the question is when. The AFC is filled with straight killers rn. Like you said, this was supposed to be a rebuild year and look what happened. Congrats!

@@astevens6539 I recall a long time ago when this QB named Dan Marino got to the SB with a fairly young team and everyone talked how even though they lost he would get a lot more chances to win the big one. He never got back. The AFC right now is stacked so getting to one will be incredibly difficult.

I'm actually sick to death with bad officiating to the point that I don't even want to watch the games any more. They completely ruined that game yesterday. No matter which team you root for, you have legitimate complaints about the officiating yesterday. Either call everything or let them play. When they try to do both it all gets fucked up.

If the officiating is bad, but you love the game, do what I do and just go blank, good-or-bad, when the flags fly. They all balance out and I never even discuss officiating.

If the linebacker is going to wrap his arms around Cooper Kupp, he's the one taking the risk. That right there looks to the ref like a hold. Happens all the time to offensive linemen. Good call Rich Eisen!

The worst part is officials are never held accountable and never have to do press interviews and admit what they did wrong and what they did right. They can decide the outcome of a game with a blown call, and never have to publicly face the scrutiny of it.

Part of the issue with a low Rams crowd .. Apparently the Rams only made 600 tickets for season ticket holders (at face value) for purchase. The secondary market priced the rest of the season ticket based out of the market ...

I am a loyal LA Rams fan from the 50's when they were in LA. I did not abandon them when they moved to St Louis. I have come to realize a long time ago that bad calls are a part of the game. That is not the reason why i was not upset about the non call. I knew that the Rams had trouble running out the clock and are best when they are forced to pass. As far as i was concerned when the Bengals went ahead it was game over for the Rams.

The Bengals o-line cost them the game, plain and simple. It was their biggest weakness all season. At the end of the game, the refs made the same kind of calls that they had been making all season. It just looks worse because there had been so few calls during the rest of the game. Cincy needs to restructure their o-line and hire a competent o-line coach. If they do that, they might have a chance to get back

I'm not gonna disagree the line cost them, but Cincy could have won the game if they kept running the ball with Mixon. They let the Rams D dictate to them when to throw and when to run, should have kept running especially late in the game.

Wilson play where they flew flag after he got pass defense was tick tacky to say the least in a game where they swallowed their whistles i think they shouldn’t have called that one. If a linebacker has his hands around the waist of a wide receiver they are calling that almost every time. The Ramsey facemask was the biggest missed call of the game. However a linebacker just can't get handsy with a receiver late in games.

Kupp wasn't very unstoppable. He had one possession that he played great. He didn't even have 100 receiving yards.... that would be like me saying chase was unstoppable or Higgins who actually had 100. Good win but Kupp got yards only against Eli

As a Bengals fan, it might seem strange that I'm happy they lost, but after the problems, I didn't want my team to win like that. The touchdown that should've been called back for a facemask, OBJ going down, we would've ended up as villians if we had won like that. Better to lose than get an unearned win, if you're a good person and hones about it.

According to 'pre-SB' jersey sales data, Bengals out sold Rams by a factor of 4+. A large percentage of fans of all the other teams that hate the Rams, bought CB jerseys and pulled against the Rams. Fair to say a lot of the 'Bengal fans' in SoFi were not Full-Time, Die-Hard Cincinnati fans. Possibly most thought a Joe Burrow SB Champ would be a better story than Matt Stafford.

Bengals fan here. Yes, there were some bad calls. I'll admit the Rams out played them. Boyd's 3rd n 9 drop allowed the Rams drive for the win. Stafford's no look pass wasn't just for show, it pulled Bell out of position, for Kupp to make a 20+ yd gain. It was a close game.

People like to ride the wave. There's a billion Burrow fans, I knew there would be more Bengals people at the game. Just been the recent trend. I doubt a ton of those Bengals fans were real die hard fans.
