@@fabianbauza4448 Removal of the injectors was the first step. Then by turning the engine over you are forcing the water out of all four cylinders. Once clear install them back in and it should be okay. I imagine he also removed the airfilter as well.

@@fabianbauza4448 yes looks like it, or the injectors if its a diesel (i can't remember replying to this). it means you can clear the cylinders out by turning the engine over. It allows the water somewhere to go when turning the engine over which prevents it jamming the piston and rod and breaking something.

How in gods name has he even got it to work again-surely it will have been hydrolocked.

@@Society.x. not necessarily. It could drive for another 50,000 miles or it could fail tomorrow. At least it isn’t catastrophically broken as when someone keeps trying to start an engine with water in the cylinders. I would drain and change all fluids too, maybe do a compression test, and inspect some electrical components too, but I wouldn’t do a rebuild until it fails! But then I wouldn’t drive any of my cars through a body of water lol

And I’d do a full valet the next day and sell the fucking thing 😂

Depends upon whether it’s diesel or petrol, that looked like a petrol engine, take the plugs out, turn it over and expel the water, remove the sodden air cleaner and get the water out of the air box and you’re good to go. If it’s diesel, put it on a truck. Fixing that in the field is a little more involved.

Yeah, he did well. Released the brakes so he could tow it out. Got the water out and it restarted! If he had some waders he would be the complete package

what did he do ? did he take the spark plugs or glow plugs out and then crank it for the pistons to squirt all the water out? useful tip to know if so.

@@wagmiorngmi pretty much. Never try to start it after hydrolock. Take sparks out or glow plugs so the chamber can force the water out then crank by hand, if successful you can use the starter motor to remove the rest of the water. Dry the plugs and put back together 👍

Turned out the fixing costs were not that expensive and complicated.

@@ElliottSix why do you need to crank by hand first, and how do you do that without dismantling most of the side of the engine to get to the cam belt (assuming it's external) ? can you not just pull the glow plugs or spark plugs and then turn the ignition to have the pistons crank and eject the water, or is there some problem with that? and yes, already know not to crank if i've just scooped up a load of water. 👍

Only because the method they used to get it working again was correct. I am not sure why so many people try and start the car if it's stalled in the water. Guarantee a lot of the cars would survive if people didn't try and start them repeatedly.
