I drove from North Vancouver Island to photograph Zion and was in Zion at the same time as you were. I spent 3 days on the east side and then finished the week with a trip to the Subway. I was inspired to get to Subway after watching yours and Alan Brocks KZfaq videos. I may not make it back again but I can always watch your videos and remember. Thanks for the effort you put into these trips.

Really enjoyed looking at these fabulous images. It struck me part way through, when you mentioned the scans that we get two thirds of a very interesting story: the videos showing you capture the images; and the video showing the developed images. Any chance of a video showing the final images and your thoughts about processing them? I know, but I do love the images and videos. Keep up the good work 😊😊

I agree with 'somewhere in the middle' for the warm-cool contrast. Lots of beautiful images again and I always like listening to your thoughts and really seeing the small but significant differences the light can make. Looking forward to your next trip :-) And I love the one with the intentional wind movement.

The images are beautiful, I liked the second one a lot. It's like the tree is expanding from the middle to the edges.

Hey Ben, it's great to see real 8x10 chromes on a light table and not the "scans." Nothing compares to a large format slide on a light table in my opinion.

Very enjoyable series, like every season you've visited the area. A few really successful images imho, some of them being made extra special thanks to the unusual story elements behind them (such a cool way to have a squirrel and a raven co-star in this adventure). If I could afford it right now, I'd definitely be looking forward to ordering a couple of prints; but at least I can applaud the efforts and say thank you for all your good work over the years. I can't wait for your next trip Ben!

Beautiful photos. I prefer the cooler shot at timestamp 19:10. The stone walls look wet, somewhat looking like flowing water.

Around 20:00, the second, slightly warmer shot would be my favorite (not the first one, definitely not the warmest one). Still enough blue, but a bit more subtle.

Love your professionalism and attention to detail. With the maple leaves images, I wasn't too keen on long exposure shot that for me just had too much blur.

After the shots of the Maple in the field you should have packed up and gone home, sold the camera and retired :-) I took that too far didn't I 🤣 A great shot and some other belters in there too. I like the blurred bush but there is a but, I'm not sure what it is though. Another wonderful trip, thanks for bringing us along and I look forward to the next outing 👍

Very much enjoyed seeing your beautiful images! I very much enjoyed seeing the differences as the light changes. Each cast a different feel! Thank you, for taking the time to share your images! May I ask, what light pad are you using? Thanks!

I appreciate the effort you put into filming your photo trips and your photo review. I have a question about conversion to digital. If you are going to end up with a digital image anyway, why don't you use a large format digital camera? Is there an advantage to starting with film, then going to digital? Is it a cost issue?

I prefer the one without the nd filter, but I also wish you’d shot a third with a ten stop, which would really abstract the leaves more than the three stop did, and I think that is the instead you were trying for either the experiment

Hi Chuq! Always great to hear from you! Although I use to own a 10 stop ND filter, I ended up giving it away because it wasn't all that practical on large format with everything else being as slow as it is. If I were to add 7 more stops of exposure to that scene, it would put me at about 30 minutes, at which reciprocity failure would come into play, extending the exposure another 7 minutes to 37 minutes. Crazy huh?

24:06 - The cooler version, at least from my perspective, is the better since there is more pop to the red leaves because of the warm/cool relationship. It’s the “Disney Affect” in animated films, used so often in the earlier years, to create great depth. It’s the warm/cool that gives the cooler one it’s three-dimensionality.
