haha i was on the job in dominican republic on my last day, and the cleaner just walked in, she wasnt moved by it, said sorry then left. she did come say sorry when she saw us at the bar a few hours later. she was more embarrassed than i was.

Kevin we stayed in a hotel in Ireland and at about 6.30 pm guests let themselves into our room as reception sent them to wrong room ,just aswell we not doing anything rude ,the reception didn't even apologise nicely but bet you came out of the shower and you went SURPRISE 😂😂😂😂

Agree Kevin it always happens on checkout day, soemtimes even if the 'Do Not Disturb' sign is out. Beginning to sympathise with to your aversion to glass doors..... Loved your funny wee rant, so true. Never been to Benidorm, but really enjoying this virtual trip and appreciate all the miles you're walking. Keep doing what you're doing.

Hi yes it happened more than few times, mostly it been after we had breakfast n pop bck to get changed for beach ,just unlock n shout hola no knocking, it's OK in a apartment with bedroom separate but not if just big room, thankfully in Portugal had sleeping sign to hang outside but not all hotels abroad have this. We came in once and cleaner got shock she was on balcony we didn't see her hubby was stripping of lol .Great vblogs Kevin

It happened to me years ago at a hotel in Ireland..check out at 12..soon after 9..cleaning staff knock and walk in..lol. Also at a wedding..someone also managed to have the same key as mine..came into my room when I was in bed..aghh, so scarey. Ya, hotels keep keys away from ocupied rooms.

Agree Kevin, but it's not just in European countries! It's basically happened to me in all hotels appart from the UK! My wife and I had a big argument with the manager of the Riu complex in Negril Jamaica. We had already complained after our first night! I woke up with a cleaner wiping the bed side drawer down! We made it clear to reception that this wasn't acceptable and that we had the do not disturb card hanging on the door knob! They assured us it wouldn't happen again. 2 days later the same cleaner and a butler who was filling our fridge back up with beverages barged in through the door while the wife and I was stark naked sleeping on top of the sheets because of the intense heat! I made it clear it was out of order and a very rude and unconventional thing to do! Her reply was to my astonishment "Relax and ignore us we are use to it" I was fuming! The best thing to do and I've done this since around 2008 in Majorca a Taxi driver gave me a wedge of wood to use as a door stop and we haven't t had a problem since,they have tried it but they usually give in after the first push. That wedge of wood has been to some places and I've even been stopped and questioned about it at a couple of Airports! ,

Cleaners came into our room in hotel close to Glasgow Airport. They wanted to get finished early apparently.

Mr jock - what has to stop is paying £6 a pint up the Lake District and £200 a night for the smallest room ever . Luckily heading owa Barcelona in a week .

A little tip Kevin 👍purchase a plastic door stopper/wedge & put it under your hotel door to stop maids entering your room 👍

re: cleaners in rooms early, few years back we were in a hotel in Benitses in Corfu. cleaner came into our room at 08.00 every day, ours was the first room on the landing. We tried to tell her to start somewhere else but just ignored us, we went and sat on the balcony until she finished, don't know what she did but no difference to the room, beds unmade and stuff on the floor think she did it just to ps us off.

I knew it was you I walked past! I was going to say hi but didn’t want to interrupt. Just seen ourselves on this video. It was my first time to Benidorm but was pleasantly surprised. We stayed in the RH Canfali in the old town and it was beautiful. My mum has cancer so it was a nice break for us. What I liked about Benidorm is that there is something for everyone. Thankfully we didn’t have any issues with staff bursting in this time but I’ve stayed in places where the staff have just come in. I never know what to do!

I was lying naked on the bed in the Marina and the maid walked straight in... eventually.

KN Columbas Tenerife, maid only left us one large towel night b4, so i shower leave large towel in bathroom and only had a hand towel, next i knew she just walks in, im trying to hide behind this towel, i'm a rather large lady. Does she walk out, no she stands there chatting to me 🤬🤬🤬

Did happen to me in Benidorm,I do give the maids a tip for extra pillows upon arrival and they always ask me before they clean my room and ask do I need anything extra money talks in any language and its nice to be nice.And carrying my musical instrument around on my travels, 'the big flute' helps 🤣

Yeah, I hate the super early staff barging into the rooms when abroad. UK hotels, Travelodge etc don't even clean the rooms during stays, post-pandemic, so have no reason to enter now, which is fine by me (they used to hammer on the door sometimes, not as early as in Spain etc tho!)

Check out may be midday . But they expect you to. Be out by ten

I booked into a hotel in Dublin was given the key to the room only to find a mans clothes on the bed and a suite hanging up i went to reception to be told not possible he is supposed to be gone I got a different room how can they not know 🤷🏼‍♀️

I stayed for two weeks in Nerja, the first monday a maid entered my room at 0800 I was still in bed! Later I went to reception to ask why the maid was in my room, no knock on the door just let herself in. Reception called the senior housekeeper, and it transpired they thought I was leaving that day! Apologies from reception, all ok in the end. Thanks for the vids!!!!

Happened to me in the Travelodge on Brighton sea front. I paid an extra £10 for a later check out cos I knew I was going to be out on the piss the night before and my head would of felt a little delicate in the morning but oh no a girl walks in at just before 11am. She could tell someone was still in bed and went “oh sorry” and left the room. Why don’t they check with reception first to see if guests are still occupying the rooms?

Less rules and regs over there more like UK in the 80s unlike UK full red tape , paperwork, procedures, health and safety, and bullshit. People have got to get on ,which is why UK is now bankrupt 😢

Hows about using the “Do not Disturb” sign. Really easy to use, although it doesn’t come with instructions. Has always worked for me- no matter where I’ve stayed. All you have to do is hang it on the outside of your door.

When me and my husband were in Paris. On the last day we were out in the morning and then he wanted to go looking for a Scottish theme bar to watch football. I was not fancying it and was happy to stay behind. He took the key as didn't want to hand it in and they walk in. Had shower and was watching TV and the staff come in without knocking !!!!! It was so quick I didn't even have a chance to say anything . When my husband come back they apologised but didn't explain. When we got home I was reading reviews and a good few said they had high priced items in the safe stolen on the last day. I think this is what they tried to do. But me being there frightened them. If they do it on the last day. Last chance of you being able to kick off much or really resolve it. If they were about 20 mins earlier I would have been in the shower or just in towel. 🤔

Got to admit If I wasn't a big Tenerife fan - Benidorm would always be my 2nd port of call. To all those saying it's basically Blackpool in the sun - yes it can be but as Kevin has demonstrated it can be a world that you don't even touch upon if you don't want to. I don't think I have been a friendlier resort than Benidorm - whether it's the locals or the Scots/Irish/Welsh/English mingling, never a bit of bother. 99.9% of folk are just out for a good laugh and what a beautiful area it is down by the front - still one of the premium walkways in the whole of Europe and unlike Tenerife I don't think you would ever feel threatened down the front as there's so much area to operate.
