The ball and cup scam was first used in Victorian times, surely there can't be anyone who still doesn't know about this?

There are even signs along the sea front warning about the pea scam....can't believe people don't know and still fall for this scam!

What sort of dew drop would have a go at this? They deserve to get scammed.

You've got to be wet behind the ears; semi-drunk or getting on a bit to engage in these throw away money games. 😮

The ball and cup? When I was 10 years old, scammers were already doing that in weekend fairs in Hungary and I'm more than 50 now. I know also the whole process , how it works ecc. Be careful, these people can be very persuasive and pushy.

People should be calling out when passing these scams either with cameras filming them or saying ''scammers, scammers don't be fooled'' they are all over London bridge and people have no problem calling them out and moving them on.

Love Benidorm. For all the undeserved bad press Benidorm gets, they do a wonderful job of keeping the beach pristine. Glorious weather. Believe me, it's not exactly shorts weather here! Have a few hours in Alicante if you have time. You won't regret it. P.S the exact same scam is to be found in Tenerife.

The Pea-men or Potato-men , bunch of crooks, even if you hear them all cheering as if someone has won , the 'winner' is part of the gang, that's to draw unsuspecting holiday makers over to have a go. There's normally 5 or 6 folk 'playing' or watching someone play , again it's all part of the con, all gang members , and normally there's 2 or 3 lookouts hanging around watching for the police too.

The easiest way to avoid scammers in Benidorm is don't go to the crap hole in the first place.

I nearly got attacked today because I told a young lad it was a scam,where are the police if the tourists stop coming to Benidorm there will be devastated effects on the Spanish peoples job the police need to protect the tourists

When you where asked to move ,was it a guy in black glasses black trousers n chubby with the jumper around his neck , or was it the man in the grey tracksuit standing still a few metres away when you where observing the second scam

It used to be a sleepy fishing village the name means good sleep 😊

First time in Benidorm 33 years ago we watched this from the beach and saw an elderly german tourist being stabbed by them after they took his money out of his wallet they pickpocket as well when they crowd round you.

There called the pea man they been doing it for years

Ball and cup is a scam that one can choose to play or not and happens in almost any big city. Fortunately in Benidorm is very rare violent or bloody crime that is very common in other places in the world.

Its the most vulnerable that get caught out its not just the scam do not even stop to watch them the scumbags are in your bags and pockets in an instant

Regarding The Pea Scam, My Advice = Don’t Play… But If You Do Then Watch His Hands Very Closely AND When You Are Convinced You Know Where The Pea Is ,, DONT Choose That One,,, Choose One Of The Other 2 Options… It’s 50 / 50 … But Remember He May Have Palmed The Pea And Its Not Under Any Pea.. 14.12.2023. Dude - you can see that exact same scam on Westminster Bridge in London any day of the week. One of the oldest tricks in the street hustling book! Everybody knows about it. Are you 12?! ;-)

What a fool , that’s a old trick

They are the pea or potatoe men.the others are lookouts 4 the police and also steal.i talked 2 a couple of old ladies she was just getting her purse out of her bag 1 grabbed it and ran.she had over 300 in holiday money it was there 1st day there.i always avoid them.they also hang around the outdoor market on weds and Sun.plus if out at night keep phone and money in front pockets or leave phone in room.ive been 7 times 3 times on my own I feel safe there 😊

If you haven't got the savvy to realise those thieves are scamming you, you're in big trouble. You're ripe for the picking, stay at home!

It's advertised all over the world not to go near the pea scum, if you do it's your money and good luck 🙂

Why are you so scared? Embarrassing. If you watch it closely and slowly you can see how organised they are. There's 1 person at each place police could drive from. They'd get their heads smashed in benidorm is full of muppets
