You will learn how to make a raw edged produce bag, a hemmed edged lunch bag and a lined reversible shopping bag with a handle. These bags can also be called origami bags or Azuma Bukuro bags.
There is lots of good info along the whole video but if you want to skip ahead to just one of the bags here's the starting time for each bag.
Raw edged produce bag starts at 1:56 minutes into the video.
Hemmed lunch bag starts at 7:04 minutes into the video.
Lined reversible shopping bag with handle starts at 19.08 minutes.
Supplies used:
-cutting board, omnigrid ruler or tape measure
-rotary cutter or scissors
-sewing pins and matching thread
-sewing machine
-ironing board and iron
-unique quick fade fabric marker
-pre washed light weight fabrics. I used linen cotton blend and quilting cottons. You will be able to make about 3 bento lunch bags from 1 yard of fabric.

Really cute!! I have a sewing machine but haven't sewn with one since home economics in 1972!! My son sent this to me, so we may get it out and make a space in my craft room for it and make some of these for yarn project bags!! Thank you for the inspiration 😁🤔😄

Can you do the box corners with the raw edge bag? I don’t want to waste fabric to try and I figured you may have advice. Thanks for the tutorial!!!
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts 5 жыл бұрын
Yes you could do box corners with the raw edge bag. If you have a serger than your material wouldn’t fray when washed. If you don’t have a serger you could zig zag your raw edges if preferred.

To get a bigger bag do I just multiply my width time three....????
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

That’s correct. Just times your width by 3 to get different sizes of bento bags.

Could I use pinking shears to finish off the edges? If so, what is your recommendation of seam allowance?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use pinking shears if your doing the raw edge version of this bag. The only thing to watch is to make sure sure that you have the ratio you need to make the fold work. Example: 10 inches wide by. 30 inches long. Or 12x36.

This is a very cute bag. i did notice that when you had to tack down the side it was when you DIDN'T fold it up in the "origami fashion. Was there a reaon that you didn't fold 2 of them that way yet you did one that way? And is that why one thos 2 that you didn't is that whyyou had to tack down the seam? Also i wouldn't recommend using this as a lunch box. simply for food safety. in all fairness this is a strong grocery sack. it would be like taking you lunch in a plastic bag. neither is safe to take a lunch in unless directly placing in a refridgerator upon reaching your distance a short distance away. that's why lunch boxes are sealed and insulated. so that items can be kept cold/hot.
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts 2 жыл бұрын
Just showing different options if you want to tack down but you don’t have to. Yes of course you would not pack perishable items in the small lunch bag for a long period of time. This is to replace using plastic bags or brown paper lunch bags to carry your lunch to work or where ever you are going and then be placed in a fridge if it has perishables.
