He's on a very similar level to Henry, in that respect. I've got Henry as the better striker, and Rooney as the slightly better player. He was magical.

Funny part about this guy is not only he was a perfect striker but you could see him many times crossing ball perfectly, better than most of the midfieldiers :)

Interestingly in Rooneys best season he scored something like 10-12 headers out of 40 goals. That was insane, it was the season after Ronaldo left. Bro was so good.

@@DirtyJamesUK And I can understand how some UTD fans see it as Sacrilegious to disagree with SAF ( &his Wisdom) but i just think Rooney should been given a much more freedom to express his rare bag of tricks! I've seen Garry Neville mention how Fergie used to be irritated that Rooney didn't automatically turn&attack when he received the Ball! ( But he had so much more to offer than that) And teams would have become wise to that anyway imo!!

@@jerryoshea3116 SAF is annoying at times lol. He named his only world class players and didn't name Rooney. Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Gerrard, Ferdinand... many of his senior players knew he was world class at 15 or 16.

Better than anyone playing today . Players like him are the reason we watch the game the others are just names on the team sheet. From the age of 16 until retirement he was head and shoulders above 99% of the rest. One of the best ever.

The ultimate same same but different, both selfless. Sacrifice goals for wins, play for the teams success. Both score with ease. But Rooney can do everything Benzema can, Benzema can't do what Wayne can.

Thanks for the video! Utd fans who watched Rooney every week remember how good he was. Every touch, pass, tackle and bit of genius he did in most of his matches will never be forgotten. He was special. Hasn't been the same player since LVG's first season, but he was still top class!

a lot of epl players didnt get recognition because youtube videos were taken down back in the day. ask any big editor/creator who makes football videos how they were banned or received strikes for publishing football videos. A lot of work that wayne rooney did was defensive and play making which is hard to find. Have to say this video does a decent job but you still have not scene what this guys was capable of doing. the only thing I hated was his stupid beef with ronaldo .....but apart from that as a player he was my childhood hero and a complete player....not a complete forward but a complete player

When Wayne was at his best the slightest knock did not result in a dive and theatrics as todays game does, the Game played by Wayne was better to watch red and yellow cards were at a minimum ,today the ref has a postman's sack full of cards, and try not to laugh at the mention of VAR, a pathetic deliverer of truth. Wayne was great and he played at a time when most players were honest, now they are just diving liars, who the ref's aid and abet.

What an absolute joke. Only United fans can even make this comparison to keep that overhyped ex-wonderkid relevant. Benzema in a few months last year achieved more than prime Rooney had since Ronaldo left and stopped winning for him. He did win the Premier League player of the year after winning that glorious league cup though.

I love and watch both United and Real, but I believe Rooney is the better of the two, certainly more talented but bouts of unfitness undermined his success, he would have been Ronaldo or Messi level but for booze.

His antics in the US of lifting a nondescript team from the absolute bottom and taking them into playoffs for two seasons straight singlehandedly prove that. No player has had such an impact in a league of all players who went there. And Barcelona wanted Rooney badly in 2010,, only an counter offer from United stopped that.

@@vs6300 what a nice fairy tale that is supported by 0 sources. Rooney was offered TO Barcelona in 2010 after handing in a transfer request, but he was turned down and signed another contract. As for the MLS, that's just ridiculous. You only go to the MLS from Europe if you're not good enough to play with the big boys anymore. You want to compare taking a lousy team to the playoff twice in a row to the current Ballon D'Or winner? He didn't even make it out of the first round, let alone win anything. At the same time of Rooney's "impact", Benzema was having his worst personal season since coming to Real. It ended with him scoring twice to beat Bayern and once in the CL final against Liverpool. In his best season though, where no one even considered Real as actual contenders, his antics took down PSG, Chelsea and City. But please, tell me more about how Rooney losing 5-1 in the first round of the MLS playoffs means he's better than Benzema.

@@YWX685 Lolol, Ronaldo and Benzema failed to take Real to another champions league for almost a decade 2002 till Bale arrived in 2013, United made it three times in the same era only stopped by Barcelona twice despite having average players like Nani, Fletcher, Jones and and a leech for an owner. Barca only had a lacklustre Villa and a budding Messi couldn't have no way refused an offer of Rooney.
