Benzhou 4 Stroke retro china Scooter Dethrottle and make it Faster (60km/h)

The Benzhou china retro scooter was running but not good at all. With throttle full open and higher rpm it nearly died and was going like 30km/h. So I decided to make it faster and remove the limiters. Figured out that these scooters have a screw in the carburetor cap which limits the throttle or the opening stroke of the needle body.
After removing said screw the scooter still ran like before. On high rpms the engine died and it felt like not enough fuel was getting to the cylinder. So I looked up which main jet size was installed (78) and ordered sizes 85 + 90.
After installing the 85 main jet and checking the carb float level the scooter runs perfectly.

No big bore is too much work for this scooter and actually now it runs very well. Didn´t expect the 4 stroke 50cc to run nearly as well as my 2 stroke scooter.

@@bikedogtor1663 - For what it's worth keeping it closer to the initial design will always provide the best relation between performance/ reliability and of course COST! We're in a bit of ridiculous situation since all these engines where designed for more power and delivery. But nowadays due to restrictions are really tied up. Negatively affecting performance and regular usage! A pity! ;-)

Well Done. I most likely have the same problem. Could you recommend the address of the store where you bought these 85+90 screws ? I would like to take a closer look at them. Maybe I can find in a local store without shipping. Thanks mate. Regards from Poland

Und wie schnell fährt er jetzt maximal? Und hat er eine offene cdi drin? Und hast du das Kabel vom Speedsensor getrennt?

Fährt ca. 50, offene cdi nehme ich an sonst würde er ja langsamer fahren.

Mein Bremslicht geht nur an wenn ich die vordere Bremse ziehe. Wenn nur hinten Bremse nicht ist das normal? Vorne ist ja ein bremslichtschalter verbaut. Ist da für die hintere auch was verbaut? LG Michael

Die hintere bremse hat immer ein bremslicht. Da stimmt was nicht

@@bikedogtor1663 Danke hab es gefunden. Der kleine Druckschalter der den Strom unterbricht oder halt durch fließen lässt ist kaputt. LG Michael

I hope you are still around. I have been struggling with this bike for over a year now. It looks like the one in the video but is called Znen with QMB139 engine. I can get it over 30kph! I have replaced everything that I can replace. I haven't removed the bolt from the carb yet or increased the jets though.

@@bikedogtor1663 I have the Znen QMB139. On the jackstand I can get full throttle RPM's but with a load the bike just seems to idle? Replaced CVT rollers 5.2g -->11g, replaced clutch, replace carb, replaced stator, plug, wires, fuel lines, vacuum hoses. On the road I get 30KPh (~19Mph). This is so frustrating. I have a #75 jet and have ordered larger sizes. The jet is the last thing I know to do before rebuild to 80cc. Any suggestions?

Habe ich bei meinem Roller auch ausgebaut. Ist dann nur noch abgesoffen. Habs dann wieder eingebaut.

hello there from Vancouver Canada. someone has a scooter like this for sale. real cheap. doesn't run. I'm in the business of rebuilding engines. this scooter will be my first. I had a scooter like this. They have trouble running when it’s hot. They can die when they overheat and don’t start until they cool down so keep that in mind. They love the cold and start everytime no choke. The factories put the wrong main jets in these (83 when it should be 75) so make sure to change that too. I did it and made a big difference in acceleration.

Harihariharibol newsubscriber lets c what u got best south africa i have zapp gy6 cleaned carburator new spark plug main jet size 107 im 5960 feet above sea level top speed 60km i spoke to a scooter mechanic here in south africa he says dont change the size of jet but cant tell me why i cant go faster than 60 km help

The max speed is up to the sprocket sizes of course. With 15 front and 39 rear mine goes 145km/h and acceleration feels incredible once the power valve opens 😄
