I’m just in the process of learning Danish so I might be a bit off on some of this, but what I understood was: Interviewer (i): good morning, do you have time for some quick questions? Prince Joachim (pj): yes but it must be quick i: How does it feel to have your children’s titles removed? Pj: I am very sorry, it’s never nice to see your children this way, they are in a situation they don’t understand i: how long have you known about this? Pj: I had 5 days notice i: I had heard that they were informed about this back in May, that’s not right? Pj: in May, I heard that it was planned that this would happen when the children were 25, Athena (his daughter) is to turn 11 in January. I got 5 days notice. i: how has this affected their relationship to their mother? pj: I don’t think I should explain further Edited for grammar

I know nothing about the inner workings of the European royal families and neither does anyone else. But I can say that I believe that this could have been handled privately and saved the children, two of whom are quite young, from having to go through this so publically. No wonder Prince Joachim is upset. And her looks it.

@@pneron2032 the monarchy itself is a senseless regime. Based on a prilige of blood. This said, having members of the royal family at least they should work in it. The former princes in question no longer work as royals: they have their own jobs as models or whatever. Why should they keep their titles and benefits? They should follow their lives. The main members of the family will remain involved in the 'business' and accordingly keep their titles. The Queen is safeguarding and protecting the regime she represents , not the opposite. Even this Republican here knows that.

Fernando, you can be what you want but monarchy is not inherently bad, and traditionr are a backbone of a well functioning society.

@@dajjukunrama5695 there are so many traditions without monarchs. First of all it is against secularism, an important charcteristic of equalitarian and democratic societies. A privilege of blood for one family and why that family specifically? Have they got any special characteristics? No. The truth is that, apart form Muslim and other absolute monarchies, they are devoid of political powerr. Because they are not democratically elected. Most countries are republics and are very happy and prosper, too. It is not because some are monarchies that they prosper. It is because they are prosperous countries and they got rid of the political power of the Kings (by the grace of God? Really? Poor all the others who don't receive the grace of god..). Thank you !

Vi står alle over for problemer i livet. Hvis tabet af en titel i et ellers utrolig privilegeret liv får Joakim til at græde, så skulle jeg bare græde hele dagen. Jeg er glad for, at Frederik er så naturlig som den nye konge.

Streamlining the monarchy or not apanages and titles are two different things. According to Salic legal principles, nobility and name are inherited in the male line by marital descent and are birthright. Even in countries where the monarchy has been abolished, such as Germany, titles have passed into names. I do not know of any example in European history of the (retrospective!) withdrawal of the title as in the case of Prince Joachim's children. But I would like to hear examples. Prince Joachim's children come directly from the oldest monarchy in Europe and are now "only" to retain a count title created in Denmark only in 2008 (their grandfather came from an "old" family, but according to French nobility law was neither a count nor noble), but are still entitled to the throne. The Queen's behaviour contradicts traditional law and therefore seems strange.

I’ll give you a quick rehearsal. The reporter asks if she could ask a few questions. He allows her, as long as they are quick. She asks him about his thoughts on his children’s titles being revoked. He is shocked. She ask’s if he was given any notice. He answers that he received 5 days notice. In the last question she asks him, How it has changed his relationship to the Queen. He does not want to answer this question.

I think queen can stop subsidise them. But not to take away their title as Prince or Princess like disowned them. Because children never do wrong and give such a short notice!! Because of blood, they are borned to a loyal family. Very sad of the way of handling this matter.
