Bergara HMR 14, 6.5 PRC, First Hand Loads

Brief look at and first handload's through my new Bergara B-14 HMR chambered in 6.5 PRC. Gun has a 24" barrel with 1:8 twist. All shots fired at 100yds. Velocity gathered from Caldwell optical Chronograph.

I love mine. I have the bmp. Its my most accurate gun and far from the most expensive. My bmp's favorite load is 4350 in a lapua case topped with the Hornaday 143 eld-x.

I've got this rifle. In 6.5 Creedmoor.I like this Bergara. I load my own and use Superformance powder. 140 gr Interloc SP 44.7 gr. I'm getting 1/2" group at 100 yards. The action is so smooth you have to check if you have one in chamber. You will love this rifle. I have the SIG BDX system. It's a little heavy if you pack it around in the bush. Stay in shape for your hunt and it's no issue. Happy shooting....

i broke down and got the 6.5cm and wow i love this thing.. i put it in my cadex chassis and took the 308 that was in it out and put in the hmr stock.. this is my 4th 6.5cm and its by FAR the most accurate not that the others are not accurate its just the bergara is crazy well made for the money

Great, I was looking at loading Superformance with 140rdf bullets in some new horn brass with Winchester LR primers. I think I have the same Chronograph and have found variance is mostly induced by not having the Chrono level and parallel/centered along the bullets flight path.

I have since upgraded to the labradar for those reasons. I want to circle back with superformance in the PRC.

I’ve had luck with sf in my waypoint and dd .308…magpro and h1000 is what I’ve got now for 140berger vld and tipped gamekings….want some more 130tgk as they took to h4350 and velocity was 3260ish damn near 3300…just loaded 100 85gr .223 rdf with varget and shot good just have to seat 3/4s of the bullet in case to get 2.24” mag length…look odd but done alright from carbine..prc@200yrds with 130tgk will shred jugs…serious power

I am happy to see the 6.5 PRC. I have this same rifle with a Vortex HSLR. I am shooting Berger 156's. It is a fantastic shooter, and hits plenty hard at a mile. I haven't had issues with my Hornady brass, I am going on 4-5 reloads on them. Have you considered loading heavier pills?

I agree with that comment. Bergara it 100% sucks that you can't include a 20 MOA base in a long-range rifle, especially considering the cost. Savage 110s come with them!

Rob, Have you done any loads on 143 gr like ELD-X bullets? Powder is impossible to find, have Superformance and H 4895 and IMR 4350 .?

My bergara hmr in 6.5 creed came with a 20moa rail and a muzzle brake.check under the foam in your box. Got it at Cabela's for 960.00 out the door.

Maybe different being from cabelas. Mine for sure did not come with those parts. Didn't expect them to come with the gun either! Thanks for the info though.

I like everything except for one thing..I don't like the scopes to high above the barrel. Change that scope mount!

Is this a standard 700 SA like the other ones? I heard that 6.5prc does not fit in SA 700 for most part, what is the OAL allowed in the mag/action ?

Out of the optics I have used my favorite is the athlon midas tac 6-24×50. But their are a lot of good options out there.

I have 48 pieces of prc brass on hand. I snagged a box of hornady about a month ago. So not able to part with any at this time. Ive been on the look out for more as well. I did find a local gun store that had a few boxes of factory ammo, but wanted $50 per box.

Howa makes a 6.5 PRC in a long action. I have a Howa TSP-X in 6.5 PRC.

No not really brother,you will need the elevation it's at an angle it's for long range so you don't run out of elevation before you get to target.❤️👍🙏

Why are you using such a high Mount? Your scope should be as close to the barrel as you can.

Hey brother ! First off " Just My Opinion " I'm retired ( so I'm experienced ),,, I'm in a 2000 yd Club ,,, and in the top 5 of about 250 ,,, so in saying that ! Get that Picatinny Rail off that rifle & That BS scope rings ! Go get some " Leapold Magnum scope rings just barely tall enough to mount your scope ! That will improve your group by half ! In a PRC youneed at the Minimum of 143 grain bullet ,, Load it up with HS50 or IMR and watch it start cutting paper at 500 yds ! Promise ya it a do it !

Hey Sam I have the same 6.5 PRC Bergara, and looking for some load data with IMR 4350 or Superfromace, can't find any powder Hornady list for sale, but have a good amount of IMR 4350, Superformance, and H 4895 and Varget, any good info for them??

The 130gr RDFs are the worst bullets I've ever shot. Berger all the way buddy

I have shot some really nice groups with the rdf's but a whole lot of very poor groups as well.

@@RobsReloading I've shot sub half MOA groups with them but they aren't consistent and repeatable. One day it would a tack driver and the next barely an MOA group. Berger bullets however is quarter MOA all day from 100 to 1000 yards. But if you're having good experience with it, keep with it as a load option I guess 🤷

@@RobsReloading I buy in bulk of 500 so it comes to about 40 something cents a bullet. So saved a little bit there but either way, its worth the money for the performance you see right away.
