Berinchyk is not famous in America, but he is a great boxer. He is from the Olympic team of Ukraine during the time of Usyk and Lomachenko. All three had the same coach for a long time. He had the opportunity to spar with Lomachenko for many years and train with Anatoly Lomachenko (one of the best coaches in the world). Berinchik had a difficult career, he went a long way to the title of world champion. Navarete is an excellent boxer, but he could not solve the riddle of Berinchik. So this victory is well deserved.

I was at the fight in San Diego and I scored it 115-113 for the Ukrainian. A lot of us pretty much came to the conclusion that he won. I can even see how it was scored 116-112.

You knew fighting like that HAD to catch up to Nava eventually. The version of him who fought tonight would have struggled to land anything of note on either Loma or Stevenson imo. Back to 130 for the Valdez rematch - and I'd pick him to win that again.

I have to agree, although that was such a weird and ineffective fight that I think both of them should lose. This was the downside of Navarette-- all lunging arms like some giant spider, but in this case, he practically never found the mark. Tremendously awkward.

Clear that top rank has been pushing navarrete as an opponent for Loma or Stevenson. ESPN commentary sounded like they were giving a eulogy for navarrete

it was touching to see Denis eyes filling up with tears while they were about to say a name of new champion. Neither me nor him expected they would give him a W even he won in a close fight. Navarrete is very entertaining to watch but transition to new weight didn't go smoothly. I feel if it was any other belt holders at that weight he would lose even more convincingly. Berynchik made him look sloppy, slow, bullied him physically, bit dirty sometimes but showed him he's the man at this weight. Very entertaining fight and what a night for ukrainians. This one was ugly across the board. There were many exchanges where neither landed actual clean punches, but rather touches. I scored it for Berinchyk 7-5 (Ever So Slightly) due to him landing a little more (TOUCHES), and having the ring generalship advantage over Navarrette. That was also a back & forth battle at times. (Referring to the Ring Generalship side of things). That's just my 2 cents. It may not be the most precise take on my end. Lastly, power punches should be the last thing anyone saw in this fight. Other than that, Hats off to both, and Berinchyk is the new beltholder. Fights with Muratalla or Keyshawn Davis could be ideal. To keep it a buck, If Madueno is going into July 6th to win, Key could very well have a fight on his hand. That's the way it should be. Good matchmaking on Top Rank's part.

This fight looked like two drunk uncles fighting! One of the sloppiest fights I've ever seen! Absolutely no way this guy ever becomes undisputed! The other 3 belts are held by Tank, Shakur and LOMACHENKO so he will not be able to get through these top level fighters!

Was a decent fight. Berinchyk was lucky that the ref allowed him to repeatedly use the head butt and holding Navarette by the back of the neck. Ref kept warning him to stop but refused to penalize him for these endless violations. Had I been ref I would have deducted a point and this could well have impacted on the final decision. Well maybe. Still, a good fight it was and I wish both fighters the best of luck in the future.
