Ok. So it's very clear that some of you don't quite know what a "shed" is. A shed is when musicians come together to build vocabulary and ideas off one another. It's a learning tool and, also a release in some cases. I'm seeing a lot of comments saying "no musicality, no pocket, just noise." If you want to see/hear drummers play pocket and play music, look up a jam session or something. Every single of one us is more than capable and knowledgeable on the difference between playing a gig, and releasing on our instrument. The musicians in this video are getting calls and are in rooms that some of you will never see or will be watching from the audience. There is no need for us to be disrespected because of your ignorance. If you don't understand what's going on, and you're not trying to understand, respectfully, your comments are not needed.

Hey man. I think the display of virtuosity is troubling to some viewers and rather than celebrating or even acknowledging the achievements and expression of other drummers, some would like to intellectualise their negative emotional reaction. This is inspiring, top level musical fun, and these players are the ones that will be pushing human expression on the instrument in the next 30-40 years. Drummers are (mainly) cool AF and share in a unique way, so it always sucks when drummers shit on other drummers. These guys half my age are playing phrases way more advanced than anything in my back pocket - and I want to learn some of this! I'm jealous! The solution is to practice.....even more! Peace

Hey man. I'm a 28 yr pro guitarist. I just want to tell you, this video was AMAZING. I wish half the drummers I've worked with could keep pocket in a straight 4 groove nevermind busting chops like this. Incredible stuff. Berklee is an amazing place

Hey! U can't just say that their comments are not needed, no one's tryna disrespect u. NO! They just need to pour out their negative emotions on this. For example, I don't really understand whether this is music or noise, so can you play xplain further, brother?

So many fucking negative comments.... yall are working out having fun. No one here is trying to write the Dark Side Of The Moon, they are drumming! And having fun and pushing their own physical and improvisational limits. Looks like a fun time!!!!

They're all great....but that guy in the yellow shirt in the first part of the video, absolutely amazing. (I've played drums for 30 years.) I'm not sure why so many of the comments are negative. These musicians probably all know how to stay in the pocket, too, but that's not the point here - it's a fun jam, a fun competition. Lighten up. The guy in the yellow shirt has amazing technique. The way he hits the drum, holds the sticks, the way each note is articulated, it's super crisp. Props to all of them, but this guy stood out to me.

its jealousy and a need to voice opinions to make others smaller, because their fragile egos cannot handle what they can see, they cannot acknowledge it unfortunately. Reason for this is also the fact that they are not understanding one bit of the language which is spoken

It gets tighter and more inspired over time, pretty entertaining. It's very obvious that they are stoked about being drummers. By the end of the video they were getting pretty locked in and it started to groove more. Fun room to be in for a young drummer.

I love it, no competition, just playing. You can put 4 drummers in a room playing the same song and it’ll sound like 4 different songs. I’ve been playing for 35 years and drummers are a different breed. I’ve rarely run into an ego, just love for the instrument and music. Peace guys, keep killing it.

This is an amazing video..I was glued to the screen for 35 minutes. To any haters watching this, just keep in mind that there is an entire world that we musicians inhabit that y'all civilians are oblivious to. The music you listen to and consider to be music is what we consider to be nursery school rhymes for adults! Junk that we play cause that's how we pay the bills, all the while thinking to ourselves 'what kind of braindead Neanderthals could possibly be amused by this pop junk?' Normies don't have the capacity to even begin to comprehend or wrap their heads around what we do. This video is AMAZING!!! Guys, the way y'all actually were keeping pocket WHILE busting the sickest chops it's just superhuman!!! I'm a veteran guitarist, 28 years pro, I NEED a drummer. PLEASE one of you holler at me. I'm busy with planning my next tour and good drummers are really scarce where I'm at..

Hey, I believe, that most of those who were suggested this video are somehow related to the world of music since this video is very niche. And since I'm drummer and multi instrumentalist myself, I can say that even shred can have a degree of taste and, yes, musicality. This kids, they are learning and don't have it, can't project it on a drumkit. Maybe overtime they will get this skill. I wish them that.

Wow, dont understand (presumably) other drummers shitting on these players. They are all clearly playing at an extremely high level and enjoying both their instrument and being in a community of players. This very modern gospel chop style of playing isnt my thing - mainly because I'm still trying trying to develop the vocabulary, mechanics and speed to be able to incorporate these kind of licks into my expression. Anyone hating surely must realise how bloody hard it this stuff is, not just to execute, but to internalise to a point you can play it in a natural musical expression - tightly to a click and backing track no less! I see this video and 40% of me feels bad about my playing because I cant do, most, if not all, of this. The other 60% is inspired to become a better player than I was yesterday. Respect to these guys, theyre killing it.

I have a challenge for the next iteration. For each round limit the orchestration to a maximum of 3 instruments on the set …. E.g kick/hihat/tom1….. snare/tom2/ ride bell…. Someone come up with a list of restrictions and let’s see what innovative sound combinations each musician can formulate on their pass…. Change the combo every eight rounds or so….. If I am to be critical of this video it will just be the first part where everyone only seemed to play 1/16, 1/16T or 1/32 notes with NO space… but to be fair everyone did settle in a bit more with dynamics and variations with use of space in between. Advice: when in these sheds play to show your ideas and innovation…. Not primarily to show that I can play as fast and complicated as everyone else. YOUR creativity comes first, what everyone else thinks is their business. Keep at it.

Kids today all rock and are awesome and win at everything… in their minds. Maybe that isn’t always a good approach. Maybe better sometimes to know when you’re doing something wrong. What’s sad is people making phony but otherwise nice sounding mouth noises and meanwhile, and many dollars in dept later, nobody in the real world is willing to put money down on your skills because the echo of nice words and accompanying lack of discipline didn’t prepare you for reality. Maybe some of us here know what the professional scene is actually like, and want to see these kids a part of it but lack bullshit, or the desire to bury their potential underneath it. Here’s the good news: you can hear the criticism and choose to improve. It’s not a death sentence but just another challenge. May as well get used to it because that’s reality.

Boomers watching this and making holier than thou statements about how all the ideas sound the same, there's no subtlety, only pocket makes money, etc... 1) this style is a language, just like bebop, funk, etc. 2) it's f'ing fun and builds vocabulary 3) half these kids probably grew up playing pro-environment gigs in church and are gonna be nationally touring with pop stars. i guarantee you they can out-pocket any one of you guys. Also, literally go watch the video of the dude who posted this vid playing Thriller and tell me that ain't pocket.

Those chops are that kind, that mostly all the jazz snob drummers cannot stand, when there is that enormous talent's in the same room. hard disagree, a jazz snob drummer is actually skilled enough to see and recognize and love the talent, skill, and patterns on display here. A much different Berklee than I experienced. Each drummer display’s loads of talent, that’s my disclaimer for my next comment. This should titled as Blast Chop’s or beats. There’s literally something to get into hourly while attending Berklee, so I would hope this is a extra extra curricular side jam. No structure, absolutely no pocket drumming. When supporting an artist, and when they call to inquire “who’s a good fit”, I hope you have documented your ability to become a chameleon, to groove, to consistently lay down the solid foundation, play with superior dynamics, to be able to read charts, NNS, sight reading, nail those fill’s as the artist wishes, all while maintaining perfect tempo, both with and without click, sequence’s and being able to effectively start/stop those source’s as it’s often on the drummer. Or spend 4 year’s occupying a spot someone else from over 100 countries would give anything to have, and you will graduate and blend into the Gospel Chop/house of worship waiting list.

It's a shed. It has nothing to do with playing pocket. Many of the top drummers in the industry shed. Can't judge their life focus on a short youtube video, lol.

Bit rough. This is a shed nor a concert; i.e. practice with and emphasis on 'pushing the limit/endurance work' (hence the increasing metronome speed), not 'taste and musicality'. more practicing the splits/ point work if you are a ballet dancer, smashing tiles etc if doing martial arts...and so on. you went to berklee (?) surly you can see this?
