@nhldraftpros2 ай бұрын
Turning out to be some nice surprises in this draft!
@s.b.3275Ай бұрын
Comparable players in playstyle are Cooley, Keller, Gaudreau, Jack Hughes, Kane and Point. I hope Habs pick him at #5. He'd look real good on Dach's wing in a year or 2. Also like the possibility of him developing chemistry with a guy like Roy. Catton likes putting pucks in dangerous areas and Roy his really good at pouncing on those occasions.
@sasso0921 күн бұрын
You just named a bunch of very different players. Jack Hughes, Keller and point kinda fit. Kane and Cooley no way. Cooley was 2 way and less dynamic

The Habs don't really need another small forward prospect, but this kid is very talented.
@maximusrusso87582 ай бұрын
@@curtisault2508 Habs need talent up front, period. If you look how dry the habs offense has been since the 90s you cant really be picky about a guy being 5`11 instead of 6`0.

For the whole year i've looking at the mock drafts and I keep seeing his name stay 10 on every mock, and lately a push towards top 5, I didn't really know his game, but after watching this, the guy he has star potential written allover him, and I finally see why he's so coveted. The edge work mix with puck protection combined with high IQ and sometime he's a legit point a game player.

This guy is #3 for me for forwards behind Celebrini and Demidov
@nhldraftpros2 ай бұрын
Agreed!
@mickaelhebertbureau84512 ай бұрын
If you look only at skill I agree. Hes #3 on skill potential. But to be the best you need other stuff like leadership, grit and defensive play which is why he will be picked after Lindstrom Imo but hes really skilled!
@nhldraftpros2 ай бұрын
@@mickaelhebertbureau8451 Lindstrom is back from December injury and doing really well in playoffs too!
@s.b.3275Ай бұрын
Honestly I'd pick him before Demidov. Catton's game looks more NHL readymade offensively. Most of what he does would work in the NHL while Demidov as mostly dangled his way to the top 5. Catton has way better skating as well and way better at stealing pucks in a way better league. Plus Catton is bigger at 175 lbs to Demidov 168 lbs. Catton put on 12 lbs during the season, no reason he won't be around 185 lbs next camp.
@bryantlawson6270Ай бұрын
@s.b.3275 demidov has higher ceiling projectability and while catton is faster, demidov has better edges. His edges are very unique.
@TritonGamezYTАй бұрын
Can't believe this guy isn't a consensus top 5 pick. He's legit sooooo good. Has the skating, shooting, passing, IQ, and overall talent of a serious NHLer. AND he's doing it at the Centre position on an arguably meh WHL team. I bet if he was 6'1 he'd be locked at 3-4th.
@chuck78502 ай бұрын
He already lookin good with Habs color
@mitchmason42652 ай бұрын
He's get great mitts and exceptional hockey iq. The biggest know on him is his D zone play. He will be a good player but, i do not see him as a center in the nhl, he will more then likely be on the wing. Great video

I am an old dude. I was there when the Québec Nordiques drafted Joe Sakic. Catton reminds me a lot of Sakic. Dangerous in any situation, he can shoot, he can pass, he can improvise... Future star to me.

He is the Zach Benson of 2024. Most likely will be drafter lower than he should. Team will prefer Defensemen over him, but will be a steal for the team that takes the chance.

Really, really, really hoping my Flames can grab him at 9th. Seems crazy low, but if 5 of the teams below us take Dmen, and the typical Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom... it's not too far off.

Intriguing prospect. I don't know if I want the Habs to take him or Lindstrom. He's a bit on the short side and would probably have to play on Dach's wing to be effective, but I just love those type of players.

Between all these highly skilled forwards and Defencemen it's hard not to draft a special player in the top 20 of this year's draft. Teams just need the right fit for their team.

Yeah the numbers don't lie, but the NHL GMs tend to like well-rounded players more. I'd swing for the fences and take high offense. But they obviously have the best scouts in the world and there are other things they look for in a player.
