Were you playing different Night movement rules for this mission? If not, that road column moved far too quickly. The fastest you can go at Night is Terrain Dash speed. That would have bought you the time needed to get those reserves in, Jacob. That and putting a minefield on the road!

Negative, we just messed up the movement allowances I think. Unless the command cards in play allowed it, I just cant recall currently. That said the rules for minefield placement stipulated cannot be place on roads.

Unless the spotlight card removed the movement penalty we totally FUBAR that one. I asked him why he didn't mind the road after the battle but it was apparently prohibited for the mission.

Second issue found, artillery phase comes after the shooting phase, so you should be activating tank and infantry teams first, then you can start your bombardments.

This is incorrect as artillery is part of the shooting phase, there is no dedicated artillery phase. The only rules stipulation is that smoke bombardments are at the start of the shooting phase, artillery can be done at any point during the shooting phase.

Trying to figure out if FoW or Bolt Action should be the game I get into. I met one person who played a game called "I Ain't Been Shot Mum" but I've never seen their stuff at my FLGS.

totally an understandable conundrum! Both games have pros and cons. Id say you if you could maybe demo a game or two of each and see which one you prefere? I love the system of bolt action but I dont enjoy painting WW2 at 28mm scale, plus I love how big games can be in Flames : ) Sadly iv not hear of I aint been shot before myself!

FoW sits further up on the tactical scale than Bolt Action meaning in FoW everything is team based, While BA is based on the individual or minor tactics. Generally you get a larger battle with FoW, men wise. Basically if you want to know exactly how I Village was taken go with BA. If you just want to know if the village has been taken go with FoW. Both games are great to play and are very different on how they play. Our group plays both. Mostly FoW but we break out BA when we want to zoom in on the battlefield. BA at 15mm punishes you when your 15mm figures are based on FoW bases. So we play FoW in 15mm and 25mm for BA.

Great game. The road should be blocked for vehicule and difficult for infantry. Historically roads were blocked.

I'm confused, why are you fielding a BA64 OP, you don't have any of the "required" units for unlock in your soviet force. I know its 1 point but that's an OP which is illegally fielded. Spotter capacity without required unit to spot for. The SU-76 is not an unlocking unit, only the static variant of a 76mm artillery battery, or larger static guns. Mobile guns should be fielded in their own formation to provide a spotter from the HQ veichle, or take the SU-76 inside a T34/M4 Sherman Forward Detachment.
