@@RecLab yes the turning point. 11/09/1989 is the date that nobody will forget. as for the kastanienallee. before '89 the street was dead. now life is booming there. i'm glad about it. I am there often and with pleasure. now as a tourist because I no longer live in Berlin. but always nice to meet old friends. I see. if you are interested. I was recently asked where the Berlin dialect comes from. I answered: Berlin doesn't have a dialect, but a metropolitan area. like in Cologne. a dialect arises in a closed community or community. a metrolect is created by immigration over a longer period of time. the jews and slaves played a major role in the Berlin pronunciation. just like the name Berlin comes from Slavic. ber = swamp, lin = land ...
