Virtuoso repertoire, brilliantly arranged: Dominik Wagner will release his Bottesini album 'Revolution of Bass' via Berlin Classics on 29th of October 2021. He presents the solo Double Bass Concerto No 1 in F sharp minor as well as two duets with Benjamin Schmid on violin and Jeremias Fliedl on cello. Additionally some bonustracks featuring soprano and piano have been recorded. The musicians will be accompanied by the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn under Emmanuel Tjeknavorian a great wish of Dominik Wagner, who played the first concert together with Tjeknavorian ten years ago and has been close friends with him ever since.

Extraordinary interpretation, singing even in the fast tempo. Double bass at its best

The relaxation of Dominik's left hand and the balance of the bow make the interpretation of Bottesini's Concerto a delicate feather despite the deep voice of the solo instrument. I find the interpretation sublime.

Looked him up - Giovanni Bottesini (22 December 1821 - 7 July 1889) from Lombardy (Italy) Great to see such young musicians. I wish that the average age of audiences for this type of music would come down.

Hard to hear the double bass in the mid register (below thumb position). I don't think the mic placement was the best.

I like the recorded sound of the orchestra, but they are about a full dynamic marking too loud. Drowning out the soloist...not good.
