JESUS CHRIST died for you on a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and is The LIVING GOD. Repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in a prayer and also ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well and have FAITH in CHRIST. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you have to become new, change, and be born again, and turn away from all wicked ways. Yeah, I hate the discouraging attitude a lot of other instrument communities have against learning on your own. The piano community is kind of horribly discouraging if you want to learn it without lessons. I've seen people say that they've never seen a good self taught player and insinuate that you'll never be good unless you pay for lessons. The guitar community is far more accepting and encouraging if you can't get lessons, and there are great self taught players out there.

How did you begin to learn? Any methods?
@fonzie5170
@fonzie5170 6 ай бұрын
Coming from someone who is completely self-taught, it really is just about muscle memory and passion. If you just want to learn a couple songs to pickup chicks or something like that, then I'd say just take some lessons and set aside time to practice consistently until you get to where you want to be, but I digress. You can't expect to become a great guitarist if you are only trying to play perfect notes or sound like your favorite artist. You have to become one with the instrument, even if it's just for the duration of the session. Whether you play for 10 minutes or 2 hours, you have to completely set aside your ego and forget about trying to sound like anyone else besides you. Not the you that everyone else sees, but the real you. The inside you. The you that comes out when no one else is around. The key to becoming a great guitarist is basically being able to directly translate your thoughts and feelings into the instrument. You gotta let go and just flow. Unfortunately, it is hard to do that if you don't have enough memorization of the fretboard. Music theory is not necessary, but it can help. Just not without the soul. Without feeling it sounds like a robot wrote it. It is always good to learn more songs, and you can absolutely incorporate others' techniques into your own playing, but try phrasing it differently or putting your own spin on it. Who knows, you may invent a unique playing style or discover a brand new sound.

@@Charles91994 hey man we all go through it. My advice is this: pick a song you really love (preferably it has some technical aspects to it) and learn that and keep playing it. Keep playing it over and over as if it’s an exercise. This is a way to develop some of the skills you need, which will get you motivated and will boost your confidence. This will only get you so far, but it’s a good starting point! Like for me, I really wanted to learn Creeping Death by Metallica, but could not do it at all. Eventually I got to the point where I could do it, and now my string skipping is much improved, my downpicking is faster, I have more stamina, etc.

these are definitely great tips and I've been implementing them, studying players more advanced than me. but one thing that you gotta remember is that if you never go outside the box, you'll creatively stagnate yourself. one easy way to do this is learning about modes, and learning a few different scales like diminished scale and implementing them into your improv or jamming. I feel like there's gotta be a balance between practicing what you know vs what you don't know. basically I come from the side of "too much experimentation" which I honestly don't think that really exists but nevertheless it is pretty easy to go from that mindset to practicing what I already know while going back and forth between experimenting.

Consistency is a *huge* one, and very underrated. It doesn't make mathematical or intuitive sense, but you can learn more in 15-20 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week, than you could in a solid two-hour block on the weekend. Spreading the reps out and doing it every day gives your brain time to digest and process things in a different and better way than a huge block of stuff you do infrequently.

To some extent this can be helpful for maybe new guitar players but At the end of it all what ever works and is most comfortable for you should be what matters. There is no wrong or right way to play, jimmy Hendrix plays the guitar upside down and he’s in the hall of fame or Jeff Healy plays with his hand over the fretboard instead of around both “incorrect “ ways of playing.
