Nope 😅 Only if you’re worried you’re shaky on more conventional stuff. Then again, considering where Tyler’s first 3 letters came from (biggerspin, switch bigheel, switch frontside flip), I suppose he was. It’s funny after months of talk about “gentlemanly games” vs “circus tricks” that Tyler comes out in full circus mode… and then when it’s finally Jamie’s turn he’s like “cmon little bro, do a kickflip” :)

@@destructionman1 I really think 5 letters is just too short, especially for important matches. It’s a neat word and everything, but the more letters there are the less it comes down to luck of the draw/roshambo, luck of the make, bad ref calls, and running through personal bags of death blows.

Like each player chooses 5 tricks, so 10 tricks total, then each player attempts those 10 tricks 3 times each, and whoever lands the most out of the 30 attempts wins. Or like there are 20 different random tricks chosen from a hat, and each player attempts all of them, whoever lands more wins. Etc. Yeah Skate is what you play with your homies. Not the best of the best flatrgounders on the planet.

This is just my guess, but I think it was more a strategic move for Jamie. He was down T to nothing and the crowd was sensing defeat. He did it just to settle the crowd, the match, and himself down so he could go to work on offense.

Nah mate he wears people out from the bottom up, big breakfast, it's not really gentlemanly, it's pro killa, two soft tricks, one hard trick, if Jamie gets you on ropes he hits again hard trick, what's most gentlemanly of JG, if you defend his hard trick, he'll reset to wearing you out for a basic 8 trick or two, it does sound impossible to overcome this, but then again so did ze 'impossible' 😋😇🫒

Mad props to Tyler too though. These 2 doods are in my opinion miles further than anyone EVER in terms of flatground trick selection and consistency (yes I'm considering PJ Ladd, Mike Mo, etc.). Like yes Jamie is the best but Tyler is right there pushing Jamie. Tyler was literally one bail away from skunking who we're calling the Goat. Gotta give that guy his flowers too.

Phenomenal showing from both contestants. Jamie's strategy after Tyler missed the deathblow was impeccable. Dialed it way back to the kickflip and stayed steady from there. Props to both these legends.

BATB has actually changed skateboarding more than I think we realize sometimes. Flatground was always a thing, but it was less emphasized than other stuff, like ledges, stairs, and rails. Now there is a whole generation of kids who positively SHRED at flatground. These two guys, in particular, are absolute animals. What a match. Wow!

Nah. All aspects of the activity continue to progress slowly and steadily, year after year. There remains very few flatground/freestyle-only skaters. Even in BATB, almost none of the competitors spend most of their time on flatground.

I think Cody and Tyler do the same tricks, basically double kickflips, heelflips, biggerspins, etc. but Cody seems to be more consistent. Jamie will be always winning Tyler because he more creative in his tricks and extremely consistent. Giger is creative but not consistent

I officially believe, that in few years it is going to be game of skateboard instead of just 5 letters. Because what we’re witnessing here is such a progress in skateboarding, that soon it will just be who wins the rock paper and scissors.

Mike Mo was ahead of his time and people couldn’t land or still can’t tricks he did (talking about pros and good am skaters). Now there’s a guy who can go even further than him and many others who could beat him (i still believe if there wasn’t any injury he’d be the flat goat, my favorite) but always when someone is first in something and pushes the limit someone gets out there too soon. Skateboarding is still new and there’s more and more people doing it. This is history guys

This has to be the highest level BATB match in the history of BATB for sure. Tyler came out guns blazing but it wasn't enough, he looked a bit tired towards the end.

If you heard any of his interviews he is 100% having fun while still trying, he likes to compete.. he also is extremely nervous which makes him look ultra serious. Ppl are too critical of the dude, he's a monster

Yeah I respect him the most out of the people in the finals for actually putting in the effort to learn some of Jamis insane tricks like the Impossible late flip (he did it after the finals first try) and the nollie bs 180 front foot impossible.
