Such an uncomplicated, talented and inspirational musician he was. R.I.P. Bert Jansch.

Bert Jansch was an extraordinary talent. I never tire of his music. I wish that I was born earlier, so that I might have seen him live. Long live your music, Mr. Jansch.

I was fortunate enough to see him perform live in the early seventies with Pentangle, and then in 2007 solo at the New Morning club in Paris

I’m 24, and I discovered Pentangle on KZfaq about 10 years ago through the song Cruel Sister. At first what impressed me was Jacqui’s voice but as I got older I started to appreciate the amazing musicians that made up this folk band. I started to appreciate Bert Jansch’s voice too, which I hadn’t appreciated at first but of course his guitar playing has always been phenomenal. This is an awesome tribute; I’ve been listening to his solo stuff a lot lately.

There is something hauntingly resonant about this specific recording of When The Teardrops Fell. So beautifully performed. What a beautiful soul.

I agree. Better than the Santa Barbara Honeymoon version, He rewrote the bridge soon after that recording, and it hangs together a lot better - still an emotionally raw and honest expression of his split from his wife.

He is truly exceptional. Its really hars for me to forgive him for ripping Jimmy Page though. But no doubt he was pretty talented.

Thank you. Inspiring. Here is a quote from Jackie Kay, from her poetry collection entitled ‘Darling’. “ The dead don’t go till we do, loved ones. They are beside us, holding our hands”.

I love this! I lost my wife of 24 years, 5 years ago. I still miss her every single day. This thought really brings it home and helps more than you can imagine. Thank you. Bert Jansch has been a musical hero of mine for decades. R.I.P., troubadour.
