Got some mighty fine dogs from him and wish I still had that pure Sorrels genetics in new yard, they were hard no quitting dogs and very intelligent. One of my all-time favorite BULLDOGS is Ch Silver,a pure sorrels dog.. what was amazingly obvious about this bulldog, and by proxy this line of dogs is their intelligence, I was amazed at his ability to adjust to the dog Infront of him.. such a beautiful thing to see, it shows great intelligence and ability to think himself outta situations.. thats my take at least..

Bert lived in San Bernardino, California before moving out to Aver Valley outside of Marana, Arizona. He was married to Jean at the time I knew him. He sent me a daughter off of Preacher (STP) and sent me a son off of Roadblock. He told me he had 150 or so matches and favored a carpet mill and a 45 day keep. He named the bitch he sent me after one of his daughters, Rhonda. He told me Carver was a big bullshitter but he liked him. Regarding the true pedigrees of dogs, he remarked, "Only the breeder really knows." He taught me that the goal of conditioning was "fast recovery" and didn't believe in two-a-day workouts. He'd get me to alternate between letting a dog work at his own pace and open the dog up to short full on sprints and let them slow down and recover. I later used cross training utilizing handwalking, slat mill, carpet mill and an electric treadmill set at its slowest setting in between sets on the slat or carpet mill and flirt pole work on alternative days with a days rest between the hard days. But, the carpet mill helped get a dog strong enough to drive dogs into the corners and put the hurt on them. I kept in touch with him when he moved to Ponce De Leon in the Florida Panhandle and he gave me his blessings prior to the last match I had in 'O2. I was saddened to hear of his passing and miss having long conversations with him. He told me that you can't win em all, but if you lost, go back and beat em. Ch Going Light Barney was Crazy Mary's grandson and just looking at the pictures of this dog, wow. Beautiful bridle animal and he seemed to absolutely adore kids and people, like any good APBT should! I love the look of Sorrell's Ch Raisin, this dog looks like he was raisin' hell! i remember you saying Baker Davis mixed his Chivo, Midnight Cowboy and Boomerang blood together. Raisin goes back to Chivo and Boomerang. RIP Bert Sorrells, he had em all. Gr Ch's, Ch's, 2x winners, 1x winners and great stud dogs who made rom. Keep Scratchin Mr Garcia your content makes my day.

Another great video. There has always been some confusion on which female Sorrells recieved in that deal. I originally heard it was Crazy Mary but was later told it was Goldie. I never did come to any conclusion so the mystery continues for now

I spent a lot of time with Bert early 80s when he was in Arizona when I was importing dogs into Aus, I acquired a litter mate bitch to Old Boiler and Sailor ( HardeyesxBandit) I imported Ch Bubba Boe and Soso Boys Ch Bronko a buckskin with his toes bit off, Bert got Bronko for us as we wanted an outcross to the blood we had from him, Bert never bred to Bronko and didn't have him long, at the time he had Hardeyes, Roadblock, Bubba Sailor Old Boiler, just host of great dogs, told me Shoshone was the best dog he ever owned, said he wouldn't start, Bert had enough put Blue Monday on him, said if that son/obitch don't get up Monday will kill his ass, said Shoshone got up and fired back and Bert said holy fck get him off, said he was the best he had.
