Pretty cool stuff today! We are going to be checking out the Bertucci Ameriquartz Chronograph. This is the first chronograph movement we have featured that is from the USA company, Ameriquartz, out in Fountain Hills, Arizona.
The movement is housed in a lightweight titanium case, and paired with, as usual, quality strap offerings.

Totally agree with you, Michael Keefer regarding the seconds hand not hitting the markers. This is really an issue the watch industry should try to solve. I am a happy owner of a Grand Seiko with the 9F quartz where the seconds hand hits the markers exactly. I can just sit and admire the precision and it gives me such joy! I understand that pleasure. I have a Seiko Type II from the 70s, one of the early quartz model, and the second hand hits every single marker perfectly, in a steady, non jerky, movement. It's been a standard since the beginning, unfortunately they'll tell you most customers don't care, and today's standard is to not have standards towards your own work. Even with the premium price ( and pride ) of housing a US movement.

I love everything about this watch and having a US made movement is a nice plus, but the seconds hand not hitting the markers just kills it for me. I've had other watches like that and I've tried just ignoring it but in every instance it bothered me so much that I ended up selling or giving away the watch. Really looking forward to your new models with the AmeriQuartz movement!

Agree on that. All the time I was like - we have Seiko for that! Get that right already! However Islander will get it right for sure.

This watch looks awesome and I really don’t care about the seconds hand missing the mark. I’ve never owned a Bertucci, but did give my daughter’s boyfriend one when he graduated from college. I love that watch and considered getting one for myself. I will strongly consider buying this one, it looks great. 👍

I have two Bertucci watches, one purchased from LIW and I love them. What I don’t like about this particular one is the seconds hand not lining up with the marks. Hopefully not all are like that. Thanks for sharing them Marc and have a great day! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

Yeah, after watching for a minute, it doesn't look like the seconds hand lines up with ANY of the minute markers lol. It consistantly splits them or hits right before.

LOVE Bertucci watches (I already have 4 of 'em!) These chronographs are right in my sweet spot with regards to dimensions and price! Love the solid straps and that coated titanium is rock solid. I wear mine all the time for yard work and heavy duty work. Thanks for sharing Marc. I see that Bertucci's website doesn't sell them just yet (as of Oct 2021) ... BUT you already have them in your online shop!! I think I'll have to grab one before they sell out 😉(#missedoutRedOctober)

A quartz Islander field watch is EXACTLY what I've been dreaming about. I thought ig contacting you, but was sure you would think the idea was silly. A quartz type B would be crazy. Please keep us posted, as not everyone is an automatic movement person. Thanks !!

I like Bertucci and admire what they are doing with American content. For crying out loud though, the second hand has to hit the markers. I have three $50 Casio Duros and on every one, the second hand is dead on the markers all the way around the dial. I’m waiting until yours come out Marc!

You cant beat casio.If like me you like analogue time they make a watch for any occasion.These being shown are already beat by the Ediffice range.If you prefer quartz just go casio.

I own several Bertucci watches (not this one yet). I have spoken to folks at their headquarters and I was told all their watches are assembled in Illinois using a mix of domestic and foreign components.

I'm thinking that leather strap will add a bit to the height. Yes do pick up where seiko left off. Great vid.

That has some serious engineering to have 200m water resistance with chrono pushers. The leather strap has been put together using the saddlers stitch by the looks of it which is hand made. The lume on that dial is awesome. A really nice watch

Personally I prefer sub dial running seconds, case shape is nice. How does it wear on wrist with the leather, is it bobbley? Lume shot is cool.

I like it a lot. My only issue is the hands. I think they need an outline of a different colour or something, maybe orange. Hard to see the hands over the white sub dials. Maybe different colour sub dials. Other than that great.

Considering the second hand is consistently off, it seems to be that the movement is precise but bad indexing. Ugg, like my A-2T Super classic so much I want to try this watch but not sure yet. Edit: want to add at least the Chrono markers seem aligned, which is why I'm still considering this watch.

Bertucci come on you guys, not everyone have gigantic wrists LOL . I'm on the lookout for a solid field watch for like over a week 👀, Bertucci watches are perfect for what I'm looking for, except the size 😑. Check their website. They have smaller sizes down to 30 mm for women. I have an A2S field that is 36mm.

Although I don't understand much about movement, I'm just willing to pay a bit more, since I'll have it for a good amount of years you know

I hope I'm not being too particular but the seconds hand doesn't line up with the markers as it makes it's way around the dial. At a little over $400 it seems like a bit of a negative.

The second hand not aligned. Here's what I've seen: that the quartz movement is somewhat "loose". I've found them to be aligned coming from 12-6 but on 6-12 that's where the misalignment occurs. I flip it upside down and the 6-12 is aligned. Personally, its splitting hairs at that point, and should it be addressed with the vendor? Yes. It is a redliner? No

I think Vaer uses Rhonda and on their solar quartz they use Seiko, same movement as their new solar diver(which hits the marks) which is almost if not twice the price. I have their solar quartz diver, with veterans discount was less than half the price of the Seiko Padi Solar, which I admit is a nice watch.

Really dig the design. But I would much prefer a matte steel case than the titanium to save some cash. I also really don't like the fixed bars. I like lots of straps and one piece straps are not my favorite as a rule. But still really like this one just a no for me at that price point

Absolutely not you're off on that one those are two of the best things about Bertucci and their main selling points of their titanium watches they do make some stainless ones although their bread-and-butter are the bead blasted coated titanium...

Love the look, but the second hand not lining up with any of the indices is a deal breaker. My cheap festina lines up 100x better than that. If your planning on using these movements in your watches, please make sure the QC is better, I would hate to see your brand tarnished by this. You have worked to hard for that to happen.

Come on, these chapter rings can't be that hard to make where they line up with the seconds hand. It's the first thing that leaped out at me. Quartz or not I hope the new islanders line up. It's very off putting. Sorry Marc. I just can't pull the trigger on these two pieces.

Well, it's great as it's titanium as it tells us on the dial however this has left them with no space for "USA" so they just slapped it on the side with the busy disorganised indexes and markers 🤦‍♂️ Then the seconds hand misaligning will rarely go down well with it's intended audience. Shame as they make great watches albeit too flawed in this instance.

Looks like the minute counter ticked over at 12 sec's before reaching 1 minute! The hand setter needs to be retrained, second hand was consistent but missed it's mark all the way round the dial. No thank you. Don't want to buy a watch that I have to tear apart and reset the hands.

No. It was a rolling counter. That was my fault. The minute counter doesn't tick.

Who needs a chronograph to time full seconds and minutes? It's just a gimmick. Chronographs should be designed to time fractional seconds. This is kinda pointless.

These Bertucci watches remind me of The Simpsons episode where Homer designed a car… so many bad style choices in one watch. The face is a mess, fixed bars with an insanely thick strap, clustered face of mismatched font sizes, a USA movement for people who value domestic production but overseas assembly? 🤦‍♂️

These are below your usual quality. Just the fact that the seconds hand does not come close to hitting the marks is a glaring downside. The leather strap is way too bulky, what I would call "horsey". I applaud the "American made" angle, but I'd hope we can do better. Not good value for the money.
