The houses are still standing. The roofs didn't hold up. Engineers/ architects need to go back to the drawing board to improve roofing. God is good. Jamaica came through this better than most of the other islands.

Mr. Prime Minister, the people of Slipe St. Elizabeth needs proper road from Black River Road to Lacovia. We also need proper water for our entire community of Slipe. St. Elizabeth. The MP for our area is Mr. Floyd Green. We the people of Slipe St. Elizabeth do pay property taxes and need to have proper roads and water systems for all the people residing in Slipe St. Elizabeth.

My little community has been suffering for so long no water no road we always come last 💔 it breaks my heart to see how Slipe people suffer . We paying taxes and srmtill have to buy water a common necessity for human . I keep saying people in Slipe should put up a road block when any election run . 😢😢

That is not the priority now. Move yuh rass. Lots of people don't get back light, water or even phone signal. My family tank is finishing now. From Wednesday Water commsion locked off water in the taps in Black River.

People in Slipe roads are bad but under PNPs there was no road at all..Mr Green a try..the people build their homes in a swamp.

I lived in Florida for 20 years so I can relate to this damage. People will help each other and things will get better. I hope some tarps will be supplied to cover where roofs are missing for a temporary fix. Thank you for the video. Take Care everyone.💕💕💕

Take note all the buildings with concrete roof are all fine it’s the ones with corrugated roofs & tiles that are blown off

The contractors and roofers didn’t build the roof up to the hurricane codes. There is no way that those roofs were built to code! That’s a shame. Prayers for all who are impacted by hurricane beryl 🙏🏽

@@monicaparker9464 Yes but if they were built to codes they would have sustain. My parents roof sustain hurricane Michael in Florida (160 mph winds)and it was built to the hurricane building codes. It was an older house too. In Florida … the new roof guidelines state that contractors must use a dual layer of underlayment for metal, asphalt shingle, slat, alate shingle, and mineral surfaced roll roofing. I know that Jamaica building codes are different. But they need to make sure when they build those homes the roofs are BUILT TO LAST AND ARE STURDY. In America it cost $30,000-40,000 USD on average to replace a roof which can be expensive to replace.

Have to say, this is the most devastation I’ve seen and I’ve been watching videos nonstop. St. Elizabeth, this hits hard. 😢 Amidst all of this, no loss of lives, which means we can build again. Stay strong. Reminds me of Gilbert where everyone was hurting at the same time. In a weird way, it brought us together and made it bearable.

It’s not the wind, the eye of the Hurricane went through Southern St Elizabeth that has 140 Mph gale force.

Yea the hurricane moved in a WNW diagonal fashion. The eye was still out in sea below Kingston but by the time it reached western Jamaica the eye scraped the coastline

It is a sad time for everyone but let's give God thanks for sparing lives...As long as there is life, there's hope to rebuild. God grace will carry us through but people need to put God first and repent.

I am an engineer and the conversion from zinc or metal to slab is working through the architect, civil engineer, electrical engineer and the parish council. I hope that the distribution of the insurance fund will not be politized with JLP being first and PNP last. I hope the the leader of opposition will protect people from those MPs who put their party first and people third. I call upon the international body to monitor these funds and other contributions we will get from donors.
