There are some slight changes in this version...the one I originally heard said "..if my MAN ain't got no money, and I say take all mine honey..', here it's changed to "friend" & the last verse, more severe, said, "..if I'm beat up by my Poppa, I ain't gonna call no coppa...", .which they got pretty close to with the lyrics in this version, rather have him hit me than quit me... .wow. I love you Bessie Smith. You're why we call it the blues.
