I have something that will help with caulking. Find LOCTITE renew caulk. It’s in a tube and the applicator makes caulk a straight line for you. I CAULKED EVERYTHING even stuff that didn’t need it because of how perfect those lines were. Lowe’s just had it on clearance.

Just a tip for people who keep cleaning bathroom mold but it justs comes back - once you're done cleaning it all with your cleaner of choice, let the bathroom dry and then put on some eye protection and a mask, spray every single surface of that bathroom with vinegar, (use a water mister for ironing or similar). Just cheap white vinegar works fine. Get inside all the drawers and into all the little corners and grooves around the taps etc. This kills stray spores and also causes mold to have trouble repopulating the same surfaces in the future. At first you might have to do it every 2 or 3 months but after a while the mold just doesn't come back at all.

Yeah but the root of the problem is lack of ventilation. If you're renting, never take a space with a windowless bathroom that doesn't have a ventilation grid

Put on eye protection and a mask for all poisonous commercial products. Also if there’s mold behind that shower tile which is almost guaranteed, putting that grout on will create a disaster for the future. All the tile must be removed first and that’s on the landlord.

I'm in my mid 40s now, and it's interesting to see contact paper making a comeback for decorating and updating spaces. When I was a kid in the 80s, everyone thought it was magical! Folks were using it for everything, just short of making their kids wear it for clothes. :) I might have to pick some up to see how it's improved tech wise.

A large chunk of the rent income goes to paying the morgage and then they have to keep money set aside for maintenance/repairs, they definitely aren’t making a killing till the morgage is paid for. The profit also needs to be sufficient to make the extra hassle & risk worth it. It’s not easy street being a landlord. These are my observations having family members who own rentals, that’s probably their retirement plan so they have to play the long game. Unfortunately upgrades to the property are generally too expensive to make sense while the actual profit is quite low.

Sad? She lives in an affordable apartment with an average bathroom and kitchen, if she wants luxury and upgrades she would have to pay a lot more in rent. She’s smart to make these low cost tweaks on her own because her rent stays the same. If her landlord made these upgrades you better believe her rent would go through the roof. Rental property is a business.

I loved all your ideas except using caulk around the contact paper on the sink. I used to have multiple rental houses and renters often do things thinking it’s not permanent but it causes damage. Sometimes it can cost a lot of money to repair. ( although what you did looks a thousand times better). People should always ask their landlord before doing that. Your bathroom truly is gorgeous, and I loved your ideas and great sense of style. 🥰

And i also makes me feel like it's okay to just take my time. I really appreciate the details that you give in your video. It definitely calms down the anxiety of starting a new project. This channel is so purposeful for this season in my life. I'm inspired to have my living space truly reflect me even in my rebuilding phase. Looking forward to more. Please don't stop. I love the shelf. I'm moving to a new place with my son and boyfriend. We are going down to 1 bathroom. This helps me with storage ideas and another mirror would be good. Contact paper is genius for keeping baseboards looking clean and less work cleaning them. I'm tired of cleaning baseboards lol.

If that mold keeps coming back when you clean it, you should try to put a Damp Rid container in your bathroom. That should eliminate a lot of the build up -- that mold means you have excess moisture in your bathroom after showers. You can replace the fan in your bathroom (if your fan is running loud, it needs to be replaced) but Damp Rid will work better. Depending on how fast you dump it out will tell you how much moisture build up you have in your bathroom. Also, try Wet and Forget Shower spray - it's very effective and very little odor. I use it to treat my shower and clean my shower liner and curtain all in one. Overnight everything gets cleaned and then I just rinse it clean. I hope your tile repair has changed the game for you too!

I’m so glad I came across this page! I am now in the process of moving and with the renting prices and the availability of homes being limited and scarce, my options lead to more older, plan-looking properties. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do temporarily but this is perfect and I feel so better going into this new transition.

Awesome job as usual!! A clear shower curtain covered by ceiling to floor all white curtains lends a nice spa feel to an open shower. Curved shower curtains are nice also but they work best when mounted so you may have to leave it when you move. Side Note: I would def have a chat with someone about that shower... that you repaired. Thanks for another fab vid!!
