Very well presented comparison Mark. For proponents of the Glencadan 10, I would suggest trying the 13 year old expression. A bit harder to find and a few more $$$, but well worth it.

Hey Mark, as a long time lurker it is fun to see where the channel started and where it is now. Looking great man.👍 Your Palate is obviously phenomenal, to pick out things so quickly(like the phenol count). I am I'm love with Benromach. It is still such a quality product even at 43% and chill-filtred. I have to agree with you that the 10 is one of the best values on the scotch market these days, and their single casks are next level. As a side note I believe it does say on the Benromach 10 bottle and box Natural colour, which is great! Lastly a Bowmore 15 x Benromach 15 blended malt could be astounding. Might have to try that. I’ve tried both. Bought the Glencadam 10 again. Other 10’s I like include Arran 10 and the “old” version of Ben Riach 10. I’m glad I grabbed an extra bottle of the later… I’ll recommend the Bladnoch 10 Limited Release Bourbon Expression as well if you can find it. The Ledaig 10 is also a favourite.

Good to hear your thoughts on some affordable releases. I enjoy both. Benromach has caught my attention so I'm leaning that way. Thanks for your thoughts. Hey Mark, HNY 2023. Both of these are unique in their own ways but great nonetheless. I thoroughly enjoyed Glencadam 10 during summer months and 3/4 way through Benromach 10 the last couple of months. As good as a 10 year old Benromach is, I wish it was bottled at just a little higher abv 46% to give it that little extra viscosity. Nice drams though and deserving of good scores!

Since you enjoy the Benromach 10, you might try to find a bottle of Springbank 10 if you're not familiar with it. These days, the Springbank is likely to be considerably more expensive, but it's another lightly peated whisky with some similar qualities to Benromach. I find Springbank to be the better of the two, and honestly, Springbank 10 is my favorite of the distillery's entire standard range, regardless of age - it just has such a good balance of flavor along with the liveliness that comes from a younger whisky as well as its 46% abv strength. It was interesting to see you blend the Bowmore with the Benromach - I've discovered that a few drops of Ardbeg 10 added to a regular pour of Glenmorangie 10 really wakes up that gentle dram. It doesn't hurt to experiment like this!

I always look at the color of whiskey, but for a lot of reasons it's meaningless. Great review/comparison my friend.
