Definitely liked the looks of Panoroo, but also liked the Monoshot and Promaster. That wobble from the blue 3 meter stick was enough for me not to get it. What legs can you put the Telsin 106 on?

8amfilms telesin has standard 1/4-20 hole. So if you have a normal tripod that could probably work!

Hi Michael! I went through the entire video a few times as there was just so much information! I ended up opting for the Neewer Light stand. I got it this afternoon, and frankly, could not be happier! Yes there are big metal screw knobs at each section (which is why I really liked it - it is built like a brick outhouse!), but frankly, nothing that a bit of photoshop cannot handle! It was also one of the least expensive at £35.00 including delivery via Amazon. Thank you for the most comprehensive video on the internet on this subject - simply brilliant!

Hey Mic, thanks for the giant review! In 2020 you might want to refresh this video sometime. I tried to look at 4 of the monopods from the kodak to the monoshot and wasn't able to find any for sale at least to Australia.

Thanks for this video Mic, I am using my insta360 stick connected with double male screw adapter to my other stick for action camera. When I extend both I get about 3 meters. They are both very sturdy so I'm having no problems with wobbling that are often happening with many long sticks.

Ok, went and used YOUR link to order the Insta360 One X selfie stick to use with my Ricoh Theta SC. The selfie stick I was using broke (hey, I paid $5 for it on Amazon with free shipping) and won't retract fully. So going to use the one you told me will work. Thank you my 360 guru.

Hey Mic -- Haven't watched the video yet but in looking at your Table of Contents I believe there might be a selfi stick missing .. .. .. I've a variety of painter's poles that I've an adapter that I move from pole to pole. Although they don't collapse like the traditional stick -- They sure are sturdy and some are very long !! And now -- On to watching your video !!

Thanks James! For car mount, I would use a suction cup mount. It won't have vibration dampening though. But there are 360 cameras that can handle vibration well such as Rylo and maybe ONE X (still testing).

Hi Daniel! Sorry for the delayed reply. Have you tried shooting with the Fusion's included extension handle/tripod? I think it works pretty well. See if that works for you. If you want something longer, I suggest the insta360 selfie stick or for something longer the Bushman monopod: bit.ly/360bushman

Thanks Paulo! Just look for linco steel stand for the height you need. They have another one called zenith which is aluminum and is cheaper but doesnt seem as stromg.

Hi iamnotapoet. The widest base would be a lightstand like the linco 10 ft. The promaster is also very wide. For a base that attaches to a 1/4-20 tripod hole, the widest would be the monoshot's base (it's female 1/4-20 so you'll need a male to male adapter) and the kodak monopod is probably next to the monoshot.

That second one I had with a Samsung and I attached it to my kayak with the 1/4 thread on the bottom and it is now on the bottom of the river, because the shaft was just friction fit to the bottom 1/4 thread.

Oh no! I had cheap $1 selfie sticks that were similar to the monopod and yes the bottom broke off. i didn't know that could happen to the monopod brand too! :O thanks for the warning

Watched this for the third time today, thinking about which selfie-stick to use with the Ricoh Theta SC that I brought a few weeks ago. I think I will just stick with the mini-tripod to use as both a handle and tripod to put on the table when I eat dim sum. I am having fun with the Theta SC and saved enough money for the Insta360 One X but thinks I will hold off on it and just use the Theta SC. That also means just to use what I have and not buy a new selfie stick or tripod for now. Thank you Mic.

I will try my selfie stick that I brought with my Activeon sport cam and try that on my new 360 camera that will be delivered on Thursday. I changed my mind and will ask Santa Clause for a Insta360 One X, so I purchased a Ricoh Theta SC (since it was cheap) and start on focusing on pictures and then later master the video with the Insta360 One X. Thank you for uploading this video, it answered all my questions about selfie sticks. (I also have a mini-tripod that I will try on the Theta SC first.) Thanks for your reviews. I have a unique situation where I need to snap photos of the top of chimney crowns. Sometimes the chimneys are at a awkward pitch to walk up or even put a ladder to so I am considering stick options. Any ideas on what would be the best solution?

Hi Chuck. Depending on how high the chimneys are, you could get a really tall/long monopod, such as telesin, or if you want, the nodal ninja pole (the longest of which is 30 feet, with a 42 ft version TBA). Best regards, Mic

Hey Mic. The telesin can be extended half-way by stucking the black rubberised thingy onto the main shaft so total there will be 3 sections ( a little more than 4ft)

Thanks buddy! Yes good idea. Sorry i wasn't very clear in the video - i meant that you can only fully extend any of the segments. you can't half-extend a segment. But because the telesin has several sections, it gives us a few options for lengths.

Great video but I still didn't find perfect selfi stick with tripod. Either they short eather too bulky. Need keep looking for perfect one.

Just one question: don't you think that "invisible" tripods and the like will be turned obsolete with the release of free apps which make the tripod disappear in a sec such as touretouch? Especially when considerung the prices (the panonoo is almost 100dollars!!!) Just my thoughts. Best regards

Thanks myLife! That's a good question. I think it's like what photographers and videographers say -- it's best to fix the issue when you shoot it. Using postprocessing is less ideal. As for the cost, not all are expensive. Some like the lightstands, or the benro are quite resaonably priced, if i may say so

I still do not quite agree with your statement: the legs of the Panoroo tripod are still visible and have to be removed using some sort of postprocessing, so there is still after shooting work to be accomplished, which means that truly invisible tripods are still to be invented. The only thing that'd really help would be monopods - which are not useful for the obvious reason. Regards

Hi Cedric! Thank you so much my friend!!! Re motorized dolly, you can put a monopod, but the surface has to be very smooth or else the monopod will sway back and forth. But it is possible to use the dolly that way, with a lightweight camera.

Hi Ernesto. I wouldn't recommend it. For virtual tours, get a lightstand instead. It will be more stable. For everyday photos and videos, see my next video where I will show a much better monopod.

That monopod selfie stick at the 3min-ish mark, is the z07-1 or the z07-5 better aligned? Seems the 5 has a remote. Or are there just different copies, and being cheap, just needs some luck?

Hi Hans. That selfie stick is a generic selfie stick, with dozens of variants, so i can't speak for any particular version other than the one i tried (the monopod branded one). I think since it is low cost you can just try it out. :D

Thanks for this review, of for demo-ing the pocketable Insta 360 stick, that I purchased immediately on Amazon.fr for my Theta V. I was looking for a > 1meter stick that I can keep in my everyday bag. I hope it will be thin enough. Having owned several "monopod" branded ones, I don't recommend them, I do prefer the Pocket XShot Selfie Stick, much more compact, with 6 segments. But the base is fragile if you use it screwed on a tripod... Regarding the longer ones, the Telesin is the one to pick, you just need to extend it in a certain order (the wider segments first) if you don't need to expand it all the way.

Thanks Irwin! Some people do it but it is a bad idea. All that weight is being applied to the tiny 1/4-20 tripod connector. There is a big chance it will snap and your camera will fall.

You and others maybee are shocked. I bought this week a very unusual tripod for 360. Its a Manfrotto 058B. 6,5 kg robust and stabile. Its a Monster and i need a horse (or my husband) for transport. This Tripod will be in future part of my travel Tripods. Advantage: I can use it for night timelapses and can use it to come realy stabile high with the Telsin i get up to 5 Meters. Important is it can carry in storm and wind, can put it into waves and i think its the fastest solution for 360 DLSR panoramas. This Tripod nearly is without a change in 20 years of production. You get it very rare in case you search a used one in Ebay. I think this tripod mainly is bought by professional photographers and they do not sell it. If picture resolution is yours way and DLSR panoramas its IMHO worth to take a look to this tripod.

By the way I highly appreciate your comprehensive review of tripods. Well done, Alex P.S. My second question is, if you have tested INSTA360X which is together with remote WiFi control on my "radar" from today. I am owner of Insta360 ONE and GoPro Fusion and this camera due to durability and possibility to trigger the shoots from longer distance can by another my outdoor companion instead of my Insta360 ONE and due to easier workflow and compatibility of INSTA360 with Google street view strong rival to my GoPro Fusion. If you have any insider info I will appreciate it before I am going to buy this equipment, particularly the photo quality and the distance which can be managed by this new remote control, because smart remote of GoPro fusion is reliably working on quite long distance and it is giving the chance the 360 photographer to hide himself from the shot.

Hey buddy! I havent tested them in salt water. Insta360 selfie stick is made of aluminum alloy so i think it will be ok but i havent tried it. Benro mk10 has a steel shaft so that's going to be riskier.

If so, I think you don't need to wear the camera. You could put it on a tripod near you where you would have a student watch you. If you really want to wear the camera, Seldi could be a good solution. Just be aware that it will be sticking out around 1 foot in front of your face / chest

What I'm still confused about is the base of the monopod, can I just get any tripods available for my One X? Can't thank you enough for all the information you provided! No problem. BTW, Insta360 invisible selfie stick is almost as long and costs much less, just fyi. Also, insta360 invisible selfie stick has a standard tripod hole. For the compact extreme you'll need a female to female 1/4-20 coupler.

Hi Sammy! Octopad can work with fusion and the insta360 invisible selfie stick. The main issue would be the height. The insta360 is only about 4 feet long and octopad doesn't add any height, so it may be a bit short. Also if this is the setup you want, i would recommend adding more counterweights or an ankle weight to be sure.

Please allow me to subject for a topic for a new video. This is the used of cover on your camera. I have a Theta and the Mi Sphere camera with covers on both (I got both cover on Amazon), I notice a line that goes from the bottom center of the image close to all around (on the stitch line). I finally decide to remove the cover. (Note I notice more on the Theta, maybe because the lens are more pronouns). Do you have any experience with this image artifact?

@@JD-lb8np for that kind of provider, you'll need to charge the client a monthly fee, not just a one-time fee. Alternatively, you can switch to another provider. I think switchpod will be ok bec it doesnt extend. Be sure to tell them it is a tripod

ohhh i see! Great use! The Telesin is a bit harder to make invisible -- you need a light camera because if the telesin bends, then it usually becomes visible.

GAproductions gear 360 2017 is probably fine with the telesin. Not suee about 2016. I can try later if thats what you are looking at. But 2016 has no stabilization

@@360vroomers unfortunately the Altura is not completely invisible, the head is too big and shows up. Otherwise, a VERY nice setup, if only the legs worked out. Solid and wont easily fall apart like the benro lol. I saw a yunteng with ballhead, I may try it out and hope to get lucky that a 1/4 is under, this benro is a tad underwhelming.

Nice comparison as always Mic we bout a 50 kg permanent Neodymium magnet and made the 6mm tread a 1/4" quite handy accessories sits like mountain and better than suction cup bracket on metal surfaces I think with the Insta360Studio FlowState stabilization it docent matter that the long selfie stick wobbles or bend a little if you just keep the the bend in the stitching area of the shot furthermore it is comfortable to have 6 meter long stick fully extended and hold with one hand it in the middle it gives a good feel and balance svendus.se/blog/?page_id=2183#.W7xC2PZoQ09

no no Mic it is 36- 40 mm in diameter 10 mm thick www.google.com/search?q=50kg+Neodymium++Magnet&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b you lay a thin plastic bit under and release it screwing the thread in the mite down as a screed the plastic protect the metal surface (Car) min are 38mm diameter 7 mm thick weight 75 grams holding force 50 kg
