One big omission in your side by side review is that the Thor OMNI has a TPO roof. That'll fail over time. Our TPO did. The Dynamax roof is solid fiberglass. However, the Thor chassis is specially made for Thor by MoRyde which should make for a better tailored ride. Maybe. What about the construction/frame ? What about the storage ? Are both rotocast ? Rotocast=no rust. What about MPG's ? O.K., I saw a dash pic from another dealer. The Thor gets about 9.7MPG. It'd be awesome during our collective isolation if at least some of these presentations included a video road test. A lot can be discerned from the sound of the coach while going down the road. Rattles, bangs, squeaks all give some indication of the build quality.

The Isata is the better made coach but it has an unusable bed with slides closed and no front window. Add those 2 important features and it would put the Thor out of business.

@@FrankBullitt390 I am a Cummins man and would have bought the Dyna no questions asked, if not for the horrible configuration of having it be necessary for guests to traipse through the master to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night and zero privacy with the curtain instead of a door for the master. It was a big turn off for my wife. We could have lived with both of the shortcoming you pointed out. To each his own for features and benefits.

@@FrankBullitt390 Yes, we can never have it all in one in the RV world it seems. I've owned bumper pull toy hauler, 5th wheel toy hauler, class A coach and now the Super c. It seems like there are always a couple of features that our ideal RV is lacking. 🙄

Both beautiful coaches and top dealer to service all your needs before, during and after purchase. The Dodge chassis with the Cummins engine easier to service but both top chassis.

My understanding is that it takes two weeks to paint a Dynamax and it two weeks to build a complete Thor.

You’re right about the Dynamax paint job. It’s one of the most meticulous in the industry. As far as the Thor goes, they’ve really stepped up their game with the Omni. We personally toured the dedicated Omni production facility and it was top notch!

Excellent way to compare the vehicles ! - more in depth would be even better. Tank capacity, generators, warranty, AC sizes, inverters size and exterior storage.

Thanks for the video..I like how you compared the wheelbase with the overall length...usually a good indicator of the manufacturer cutting corners...Dynamax higher quality coach.

I'm noticing something that is a selling point for me if both models are pushing the 4x4 aspect of these coaches. Notice how the Ford Chassis of the Thor model has a wraparound aftermarket bumper. The Isata model retains the original bumpers and TOW HOOKS. I don't know about you but every 4x4 I have ever owned got stuck at some time or another. I would much rather have the two hooks available then battle a low mounted custom bumper. The Cummins engine is a plus too.

Both great vehicles but the Thor looks so damn good! I wish Thor made a package like the Isata 5 Explorer with double pane windows and better insolation as well as or similar to the off grid power source.

@Raj Dewan Thor has had problems in the past but they have made good efforts to improve quality. The key is the dealer you purchase from. This is a top dealer to service all your needs before, during and after the sale.

Yes, THOR has had TREMENDOUS quality build concerns and still do, thus their low used prices falling ike bricks:) If you are handy a used one is the way to go:)

@Michael Smith Agree, Thor, like many other RV manufacturers, have had unacceptable engineering, quality control, safety and customer service issues. I am aware that Thor is making major internal positive changes, one of the reasons they purchased the German based Hymer Group, Europe’s largest motorized RV manufacturers. Born and living in the USA, I am highly educated and trained in mechanical and quality control manufacturing engineering mentored by several German educated and trained engineers in my 12 year master apprenticeship. As USA family manufacturing business owners since 1950, we incorporate the European engineering & manufacturing philosophies, techniques and technologies which are vastly different than those typically in the USA. Also, in the USA we have RV lobbyist, from the RV industry, specifically to maintain little and in some cases no Government safety, quality control / consumer safety & rights regulations for the USA RV industry. In Europe it’s the opposite, as motorized RV’s have many of the same or higher safety and quality control regulations than passenger vehicles. However, according to Thor, they will be incorporating their acquired German engineering, quality control and manufacturing philosophies and processes into their USA divisions. When, what and how this will improve Thor’s much needed advancements in initial quality, safety, functionality and durability, only time will tell. Regardless of brand, dealer choice is key. A dealer either wins a customer for life or looses 100 future customers in the service & warranty departments.

Especially with that Ford chassis... I'd rather push a Dodge Cummins than drive any post DEF Ford diesel... it looks like Godzilla puked up an autozone under that hood... a plate of spaghetti has more order than what you find under the ford diesel hood... NO SALE!

The problem with both of these trucks is the CP4 injection pump. At least with the cummins i believe you can put a cp3 pump on. I don't think there's anything out there that will let you do that with the Ford. Use good diesel fuel people !

When will chasis manufacturer's start placing adaptive cruise control in these coaches? Since these are for driving, this feature is so important on long trips. I haven't seen this feature on anything except the new Mercedes Sprinter. I don't understand.

@TheSquiggyacfd I know Ford 2020 F550 chassis has adaptive cruse control and many other safety technologies options that the RV manufactures can order with the Ford chassis. Thor 2021 models hopefully will include all of them. I don’t know what the 2020 Ram 5500 Chassis technology options are.

Tucker invented radar & seat-belts for the automobile- had those in his vehicle AND he was run out of business... these manufacturers send $$$ to DC to bribe congresspeople so that they can save a dollar even if it means 1 000 000 dead Americans... so don't look for engine brake, front radar & collision mitigation, lane alert controls or an adaptive cruise control anytime soon... bet they don't even install the softstart on the AC's so that you extend life & can run on 20 Amp both on 30 amp at reduced sound & vibration!

They are both pretty similar in cold weather. There is an optional package available on the Isata 5 called the Xplorer package that includes dual pane windows, extra insulation and more to make it a true 4 season coach. So, with the Xplorer package the Isata 5 will definitely be better for cold weather.

Arrgh, the Omni would've been perfect if they hadn't sacrificed the dinette window for the TV. Hate those mean little windows. For this kind of $$$, Thor should install a televator or put TV over the door.

I Care that is actually has changed a bit. While you can do the work with cab on ram has made it so the cab can come off “easily “ to make larger repairs more time efficient.

There is a reason all the semi’s have a inline 6, Ford will never make their v8 diesels reliable period. That Cummins in the dodge chassis is a million mile motor, the Ford will fall flat on its face after 200K.

I will set the rest of the doubt here between Cummins engine and others , as Diesel MECHANIC for CITY METRO BUS in PHOENIX , METRO ONLY used Cummins engine for the city bus , all is 6.7 L and runs and runs until more than MILLIONS miles,...!!!! others just 100x times trash!!! NONE in this COUNTRY used others diesel Engine for city BUS !

100%- buying a ford is like marrying a gold digger... it's all wonderful having a hot chick on your arm until she gets her feminazi lawyer & judge & strips you of 1/2 your assets AND makes you a $$$slave for all of your days while she is partying on with another on YOUR dime! Same here with this vehicle- the Thor looks great love the skylight & layout... but then as you are broken down on the side of the road the Cummins laps you 1 000 times as it will not require major service until mile 750 000+... and you are JUST BEGINNING your money pit constant repairs on the ford joke diesel
