Good time. Good group. Good feelings and memory. I was 5-6 years old when they started. They were very popular in USSR, doesn't matter on politic things! Even we watched on TV concerts of this beautiful Swedish group!

Прекрасные голоса, красивые мелодии и аранжировка песен (кажется этим занимался Бенни) - всё это, конечно, восхищает. Одно очень жаль, что человек стареет и умирает. С нетерпением жду, когда на земле наступит Царство Бога, где будет воскресение умерших и не будет смерти.

I feel nostalgic when I listened to ABBA's songs. The song I heard for the first time was Fernando. In those days there were some radio broadcasts for western musics in Japan. Though I couldn't understand what they sang, I loved western musics. Almost songs were western musics from the US or Britain. ABBA were from Sweden, so I felt the song, Fernando ,was brand-new. At that time, the nordic music sounded as if refresing breeze blew. After that, becoming very popular with their song, Dancing Queen, ABBA achieved the fame in Japan. In those days, I heard the song, Dancing Queen here, there, and everywhere. ABBA has a lot of masterpieces such as Dancing Queen, That's me, Take a Chance・・・. Notably, for me, one of the best songs is Winner Takes it All because the lyrics are similar to heart break songs sung by Carpenters. I'm afraid my English skill might be poor. if my English is wrong, please go easy on me. greetings from Japan.

I'm from the US. When ABBA first started being known in the UK, they weren't here. Somehow, my Dad (who had never left the US until all of his children were grown and had grandchildren) knew about ABBA and we had LP's of theirs. We were amazed (I was the oldest and was a Freshman in High School) that nobody else knew who they were for another two years.

@@geerterri Thank you for you reply. I checked out ABBA on wikipedia. Mainly, they were popular in Europe , especially Australia (including Japan). ABBA mightn't have been popular in the US than other countries, because there were lots of excellent musicians in the US. It might be difficult for European musicins to be popular in the US. For instance, even Queen couldn't get no.1 on the billboard for a long time. Talking about Queen, In those days, they surprised Japanese fans when they released ’手を取り合って’ Let us cling togeter, because Freddie sang the hook of the song in Japanese. At that time I thought they might be popular only Japan. lol There are a lot of many good pieces in Japan too. If you are interested in Japanese tunes and history, firstly I recommend ’篤姫のテーマ’ ,theme of princess Atuhime. This piece was played in Japanese history drama. Princess Atuhime was one of the crucial person to save Japanese people when western countries approached Japan. (After that, the era of samurai warriors ended, and Japan modernized) Although she had power, she lived a modest life.The reason is that she helped womem who were in Edo castle. (Now, the emperor lives there.) She didn't use money for herself. she had little money when she passed away. She might have had the genuine samurai spirit. If you search ' Atuhime Opening song', on youtube, you can find that.This tune is magnificent. I'm sorry for the long message.

Those always gives me a sense of happiness and heart-pounding whenever I listen to them. I have been a big fan and don't say anything but to plunge myself into it in spite of myself. They have been so much greater singers than ever before in making something in the recent music world. I love their music so much that I never stop lisenting to them almost every night. Throught their songs all along, I feel good and at home just like being just aroung those sharing the closest with me
