✅ REP AB-5200 Adjustable Bench (IN-STOCK) - www.garagegymreviews.com/go/r...
There are two premier ladder-style adjustable benches marketed to the home gym community and those are the REP Fitness AB5200 and the newly released Rogue Adjustable Bench 3.0.
Today, I walk through the differences and tell you which I think is truly the best for 2021. This isn't an exhaustive review of every adjustable bench (we have that coming,) but specifically, a comparison between the two of the best value's on the market.
If you're looking to add an adjustable bench to your garage gym, either of these would work extremely well.

Owner of the 5200 here: The extra length of the main pad allows for zero-gap bench presses because it is so long that you don't even touch the gap. It's a flat bench at that point. Great review as always coop!

Another 5200 owner here, my feelings on this bench completely changed when I realized I could use the main pad without touching the seat. As you said, basically a flat bench at that point, and it works great.

@kylen6430
@kylen6430 2 жыл бұрын
@@yoshieuno as a flat bench, no. For one, it’s really tall at like 21” or something. They now sell a “pro” version that is 17” though. Secondly, it’s very squishy, not my cup of tea for flat bench. That said, it’s a great bench for other purposes. They have a great “ecosystem” of attachments, and it’s sturdy enough for incline work unless you have a massive press.

Update6 months and I'm still loving this bench. kzfaq.infoUgkxo_64lVTGMk7y4aXTPxPOcQ3YTLyQ6kYV I use it almost daily. I've gotten used to the small wobble and it's no problem at all. Love the storage, it folds right next to my weight set in the garage and hardly takes any space. I wish the covering material was a little bit tougher. I have a feeling that in a couple years it'll tear, but the bench is very well priced that I would just buy a new one.3 month usage review. Awesome bench for someone looking for compactness and storage. I did have to drill a couple holes to adjust my preferred seating position and leg bar position but that's only due to my personal preference. It's very sturdy for normal workouts, but for anyone going above 100# dumbbell press it wobbles ever so slightly. I would probably go with a fixed bench if that's the case. That being said i can accomplish 99% of my normal gym workout with this setup. Very happy with the purchase.

Great review. At the end of the day, I will pay more to buy American made so I will buy Rogue when it comes to replacing my ancient adjustable bench, and equally ancient rack. One thing I noticed, and that may very well just be a perspective thing, but the mounting frame for the Rogue pad appears to be wider than the Rep frame.

I feel like that's the first time Coop has pointed at a plastic endcap and called it "unbreakable plastic" like it's an upgrade versus REP's rubber feet. Also no mention of Rogue's plastic handle versus REP's stainless steel, or REP's wheel guards that help prevent a tripping hazard, especially while spotting. Also I've seen other reviewers mention the pad material on the Rogue is slipperier, which gives an edge to REP, plus look at the bottom of the Rogue pad with exposed staples versus a finished/hidden underpad on the REP. I get that there are some details nicer on Rogue's, but I also think there are some details nicer on REP's that weren't mentioned at all. It's not so clear cut that the Rogue is just a flat out upgrade. I think it's a close call in a lot of areas which makes it even more of a struggle to justify the price difference.

I’ve had the ab5200 for a few weeks now. One detail I don’t think you extrapolated enough on is the length of the back pad. Because it’s so long, I’m able to fit entirely on it when benching, without the gap interfering. Then again, I’m only 5’10” and I use a slight arch so that won’t be the case for everyone. Also, is your rogue back pad upside down? Atleast on the rep, instructions indicated seam to be where gap is

Great video. I recently ordered the Rogue Adjustable Bench 3.0, and I have to say I was disappointed with the shipping and handling. Almost every component of the bench came with a ding or mark. Additionally, I found that, at least on my bench, the back support and seat support rods that rest in the bench spine and front foot do not rest in the center of the adjustment rails, which causes rub and wear on the steel adjustment rails over time.

@@hitleractually8180 I did reach out to Rogue, and I agree they have great customer service. They actually sent replacement parts, and those ones were also pretty banged up. I had the opportunity to try the AB5200 and the Rogue 2.0 bench on incline press back to back at the same gym, same weight, same day, etc. I don't know if if there is a difference in the 3.0, but for heavy incline work I was sliding forward on the Rogue bench (as in the weight pushing me down and off the seat) whereas the AB5200 kept me firmly in place. Open Question: Rogue 3.0 vs. Get Rx'd FIDAB-2 vs. Hoist HF-5167. Any opinions? This would be for 5'9" dad, two sons, 5'4" wife, and future tenants. Thanks!

Over load it the bench till it buckles onto itself lol. Then do it with a cheaper bench with all the same features but a lower weight rating.

Feel like I point that is consistently missed on adjustable benches is how much does it wiggle while you use it. That should be way more important than laser cut decals

@@indianajonze that was direct? I've never had to fill out a form. They gave me the price then asked for my info to make it an official quote with price locked for 30 days. Which I provided and never heard from them again. In one case I soon bought the item and another time I found it used right before I pulled the trigger on new.

It's nice to see Rogue considered shipping costs when designing this bench. $45 compared to $200+ on the old one. That's reasonable.

Got my Rogue bench and i love it, I do have to say that packaging was immaculate, maybe they already upgraded that as well, foam fitting al components, was amazing and fairly easy to assemble. On the review side, The rogue seemed like a more stable option as well due to the frame for the back rest being wider, I've had back rests get wobbly with narrower columns. would you agree Coop?

Weird that the padding on your 5200 is soft. My ab 5000 padding is almost rock hard or like a 2x4. In fact it made bruises on my back when I first used it for benching. Yours looks like its not even filled in. Before that I used and still have the ironmaster bench. My version is a good firmness.and also have the wide pad for the ironmaster. That is THEE perfect firmness.

Bowflex adjustable. I've had mine outside in the sun and rain in Florida year around for 3 years. I'm 5'10 210lbs and the bench is solid . Unless you are using the bench for 600 pound bench presses or 300 lb flys ,this bench is perfect. PS ,don't buy a 50 dollar bench .Walmart 148 dollars for the bench I use.
