Great vid, I have the Advan Black tour pack on my 2016 RGS and love it! I also got the liner for that and it is better than anything HD offers at half the price. When I go to a big radius exhaust I plan on getting their extended no-cut bags.

A friend of mine has the extended bags fender extension and tourpack from them. Great quality. I don’t want the extended bags but I’m definitely going to look into getting the liners.

glad to see they open with the tour pack. i ordered the 2014 up extended bags for my 98 electra glide but didn't think about opening issues with tour pack. i feel alot better now cuz this is only video I've seen with newer bags on a bike that has a tour pack

The left side did touch my CB mount (which I have the cablel removed already) so I did have to take that little plastic clip off, but now it clears. I have the detachable tour pack kit so I'm not sure if that contributed or not.

great review. The bags look real good and the black with chrome accents is a nice theme that seems to get overshadowed by the all black or all chrome looks.

That’s awesome that you can upgrade to the newer style bags! I’ve checked them out for a chopped tour pak but I have the Bonneville Salt Pearl color and I’m worried it wouldn’t quite be the same color.

I literally was looking at hard bags yesterday. I'm TOTALLY gonna get those! I was not impressed AT ALL with the ones I found on e Bay. I knew I'd seen aftermarket ones that looked better than what I was seeing online. Those look like they were meant for it. 👍

Now do yourself a favor and get some skid plates that stick out past the lower lip ....you are going to drag them...... I have the leather-covered viking 4 inch extended bags and took a nice chunk of leather out before I put skid plates on.....As for a fender extension there's a plastic chrome one that you can use the tri bar light in and get rid of that bumper you have. Then you'll be down to getting some panel fillers and putting the street glide turn signal bar on to have a sweet looking ass.

Thanks for the video. I have HD bags on my 2006 Road Glide, and, they work ok. However I did get the Advanblack Tourpak for my year RG. Had to drill some extra holes and got some SS hardware from Home Depot to get it to fit correctly on the removable tourpak rack (also from Advanblack). The rack took some time with extra SS bolts and washers to get it to fit right. Also, for those that get the Advanblack tourpak, you will need to made a template of the back of your speaker pods if you have them. The tourpaks do not come pre -drilled. Because finding HD speaker pods for my RG is rather expensive and limited, I got TCMT speaker pods off Amazon. They fit and look good. Don't tighten them up too much, otherwise the splined nuts in the molded plastic will pull out (dealing with that now) One more thing, I talked to Advanblack about the tourpak and their other stuff. They have there own molds for what they sell. In China there are only a few places that make HD copied bags, fairings and packs. Not a whole lot of quality control. That is why Advanblack went with their own specs and their own molds.

I have an Advanblack tour pack and it is nice. But the hardware is not the best quality. It does fall apart. Before you use the bags I would remove every screw and add blue loctite. Once the screws fall out some of the threads get damaged in the cast parts and they won’t catch a thread to go back in. I’ve had to replace the whole latch on my tour pack due to it just rattling apart. Advanblack did send me a new one at no charge though, they also sent me new latches for my quick disconnect tour pack rack that also rattled apart. Before they fell apart I was checking the screws on a regular basis as I’ve had them fall out before that too. Advan is great I recommend them.

Not sure if someone else has suggested this, but go to HD and get their screw on thingies. I would also get the HD grommets that mount on the bags where they mount to the fenders. While the bags are top notch, the Advan Black hardware is a little cheap.

good job brother, i bought 4" stretched bags for my 05 road king and had to adjust both my exhaust as well, for everyone putting on stretched bags please double check exhaust, i did learn the hard way, as in started to melt the bag....yikes....all fixed up though cant tell.....

Them bags look good on your bike , I do love the way they open, are they keyed the same or are they different from side to side ? You know after owning a 2018 softtail low rider , with the m8 in it , I don't miss it compared to my 2014 ultra limited , and having the bags to throw stuff in on your way home from work when the wife asks you to stop at the store kinda thing is very nice. Nice video , been busy working here, ain't had much time to ride in this rain the last few weeks . Warm weather awaits US , at least we will be ready for the virus with our helmets on and cruzing down the road.

Just in case anyone is wondering....these DO fit older baggers as well, with extra work. I just put a set of cheap EBay extended 14+ bags on my 97 Road King. The mounts on my King are not like the ones shown here or on any other online fitting video. I'm not sure when HD changed mounts. But i had to cut the slot and re-shape the bracket as well as space out the other bracket. But it does indeed fit. If these cheap bags crack or break or anything, I'll replace with the good ones. But for $250, it's hard to complain. And they came with the lids and hardware pre-assembled. Surprisingly good quality, but they do feel a bit thinner than the stock bags. Time will tell.

Thanks for the great video! I'm looking to do this on my 2012 SG in Denim Black. Now that you've had them for a year, are you still happy with them? How have they held up? Any issues with them? Would you do anything different?

I've had some issues with the hardware to be honest. The locks on both bags broke. They sent me new ones asap though and it's been fine since and said that's not typical. The new locks are a little sticky/tight but I'm told they are redesigning them. Maybe that's already done by now though.

Looking at the side view of the bike it looks like you got the CVO Style bags. They have a slight taper so you can still see a little of the muffler. Am I correct? PS I did the fender extension first. Now I’m shopping for the bags.

Mine are not the cvo style. They are straight on the bottom and don't have that taper.

If the front mount is the same, it should. Im not sure if Harley changed that from 03 to 2013 but I doubt it. If you have a friend that has an 09-13 bag you could try that and if it goes on, the 14+ should work fine if you do the front bracket mount mod like I did.

Quick question: I heard some people drilling a new hole into the bag instead of drilling out the metal. Do you have an opinion on this method? Would love to hear the easiest way to modify the fit

Three reasons I personally wouldn't do that. 1: water. It would have an open hole in the bag, unless you filled it with something like silicone. 2: if you ever sold the bag, you'd have a hole in it. 3: the brackets are easier to replace if something would happen. It's a quick drill of the bracket, it took me about 5 minutes to do both of them. No reason to drill through a perfectly good bag :)

You need to upgrade your shocks, it will make a world of difference in your ride. Legends Revo or Revo A is what I would recommend you should work out a deal with them.

Iv been knowing about Advanblack for a while and they do have some great aftermarket upgrades parts. I have a 2015 road king so I bought thier Led headlight and passing lamps... Awsome! And I also bought thier bag liner. My are red with red stitching AWSOME! I freaking love them... I would buy thier stretched bags but mine is two tone and pinstriped. So I'm ass out on those... But I will be buying thier color matched lowers.. 😎🤘

I bought a set of Advanblack cvo bags (Made in China!!) for my Ultra Limited, and the color (Midnight Crimson) did NOT match my bike. They are more black than the original dark red. Fortunately I liked the contrast and am thinking of two toning my front fairing to match the subtle but noticeable difference. Also note that their bags are slim or narrower than stock bags, so that if you want to add something like saddlebag mounted turn signals, you can't use any kind of set that does not come from Advanblack. Custom dynamics saddlebag lights will be too large and not fit because of the difference in size. Also because of the difference if you just buy the lower part of the bags and keep the tops to mount on the advanblack bags they will not close with the same kind of fit as the stock bags, tho they will close ok. You will notice a slight need to push the top down to get it to close properly.

Interesting. What year is your bike? I have Ciro bag lights on mine and they fit really good. These are 14+ style bags on my 2011. Have you contacted them about it? Something doesn't seem right.

@@LifeontheBlacktop I have a '21 Ultra Limited. I installed the bags in the winter and I had 30 days to return them when they arrived. I didn't take the bike out into the sunlight to make the close comparison on the color and it was a couple of months after, that I ordered the lights from custom dynamics. The stock bags measure 7 1/2" The Advanblack bags measure 7 1/4" When I talked to an Advanblack rep. he said this is normal. I had to pretty much suck it up, for not being critical and inspecting color and sizes before drilling holes in the bags for the top rail lights I had already mounted on the tops. Sucks to be me...

Technically it's hers... But we two up it more often than not lol. It's fun to cruise around town in the evenings.

@@LifeontheBlacktop yeah, I spoke to them and my color is not available. My bike color is Pacific Blue Denim. Basically flat blue. I will just have to keep checking.

@@LifeontheBlacktop very .. it’s not a tourer .. and yet , I don’t want an extra 100kg on my bike every time I back it out of the garage for an afternoon ride . Imagine doing that with a passenger on the back .. Get all the options on a tourer , not so much for a softail cruiser .

A whole install video and that's what you choose to comment on eh? If you must know, I get massive dark spots without the garage door open during the day light FOR THE VIDEO. So I guess I could have, but I would have had to use a flashlight to show you things that were shadowed on camera and then you'd be here asking me why I didn't film in the daylight so I didnt have to use a flashlight.

Lemme throw my 2¢ into the ring here, Ive been looking for a set of 14 up bags for my 01 softail std, heres what ive found. First i started at harley, wow not impressed by the oem abs bags , even the factory bags feel cheap when compared to the older fiberglass bags, so keep that in mind , NONE OF THESE BAGS WILL HAVE THE FEEL OF FIBERGLASS, next from what im seeing the 2013 and down you can get with or with out hardware, the 14 up bags come with hardware installed, this i find interesting because i see alot of reviews saying the hardware doesnt fit on the older 13 and down bags, my theory on this is because it appears you cant buy the 14 up bags without the hardware, therfore these issues of "not fitting" are being caught at the assembly table and never make it into the end users hands. Just my theory. And lastly , knowing how resellers work and knowing the cost of setting up a production facility im willing to bet these bags are all coming out of the same one or two mfg facilitys in china, im willing to bet theres virtually no difference in there quality and the only difference is going to be in paint, if you notice almost all the ebay and amazon sellers sell these bags only 3 ways, in vivid black, matte black or unpainted, again my theory on the few that sell color matched bags is that these companies are buying in unpainted bulk and painting in house, thus the $700 price tag vs the $199 price tag, plus theyre throwing in a few goodies like liners and custom hinge covers with their logo on it etc. The botom line is from what ive seen is that all these bags appear to all be coming from the same factory with the ebay amazon sellers ordering them 3ways and comps like advan ordering them unpainted

JB, did you ever put the 14 up bags on the 01 softail? I have an 07 and want the 14 up ones. I have the softail bag conversion kit on it. let me know please want to order ASAP. Thanks man!

@@lakrone1 yes i bought a set of 14 up street glide bags online with the brackets, i got std size because the 4" extended looked to close to the ground and i thought i was gonna grind them cause softails have a harder lean angle than streetglides theyre a lil more flimsy then the factory bags but not much, they came prepainted in black, an if i remember correctly they cost me $223 to the door, i got them off of ebay there 265 now plus tax (got mine b4 tax bs) i just looked , the only issue i had was the locking hardware, it was just ok, the ones i got didnt have the screw in detachments they had clips, the issue was if you slapped the side of the bag with your knee the clips would pop off, how i solved the problem was i tossed the clips the bag came with (wich were hinge pin clips) and i got E clips from the hardware store,, you couldnt knock these off with a sledge hammer now, but the downside is youve got to pop the clips off with a screw driver. Ill try to post some pics so you can see the look, i did post a video of the bags going on and the issue to my youtube page, id recomend if you do this getting the wrap around taillights that go on the back of the bag, mine came with disconnects and i piggy backed them directly into the wiring harness under the seat with solder, i just shaved the wires back exposed the wire, soldered them on and used liquid tape, then wrapped them in waterproof tape, any q's just ask,,

BTW...Ordering the tour pack for it also....going to look like a completely different ride........ All color matched to Black Cherry..........
