Hey Cayla:) I’m 31 and also have RP. Just wanted to say, I love your videos. So much of the things you talk about are really relatable and its really refreshing to know I’m not the only one having these awkward experiences! So thank you for making your videos xxx

Thanks for sharing your experiences. As a legally blind person myself, I've had similar positive and negative experiences. When someone does an exceptionally good job of being descriptive I let them know how much I appreciate it, and if possible, I let their supervisor know too. I too have been non confrontational in negative situations, but the older I'm getting, the more I correct a person's actions, as kindly as I can, so they will better know for future interactions.

Hi. I'm a Korean guy with the same condition, which is R.P. Searching about the disease, I recently came across your videos and I've been enjoying your videos so much now. I found out that I have this visual impairment when I was 18 and I became totally blind like four or five years later. Anyway, what you talk about on your videos is something I can definitely relate to and it makes me feel like I'm not the only one. Thank you for sharing your stories and I'll be rooting for your upcoming videos. Take care~

The doctor sounded really great. I agree descriptions when you can’t see something coming it’s very helpful. There’s no excuse I feel for being manhandled like that in the theater somebody shouldn’t need to have frequent interaction with Blind people to know not to put their hands on someone else and physically move them like that particularly not without asking permission or giving them a warning first.

I'm so glad you had that great of an experience with a medical provider. On several occasions I have had to tell a Doc to talk to me instead of at me or around me. I would certainly stick with that one. And, it's good to se you doing a video. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I wonder if you called the theater, told them about your experiences, mentioned that you had been there fairly often, and that you would like to do some sort of a presentation about how to properly assist blind patrons, if they would be open to that. Or, at least let you do a write up that could be emailed, posted, whatever.

Thanks for sharing those experiences, Cayla. The way you described them was excellent and I felt like I was right there with you. It sort of reminded me of the audio descriptions that I rely on when I watch TV or movies. I'm glad to hear that you had more positive encounters than negative (at least for the purposes of this video). As a legally blind person, I am always interested in educating visually unimpaired people how to deal with those of us in the VIP community. I am also pretty non-controntational but, as I get older and more crotchety, I have less of a problem with confrontation. I'd really love to have all the people in your five stories watch this video. The three positive ones would probably get a kick out of knowing they did a really good job and might even ask their friends to watch the video. And the two that did a really bad job would maybe learn something without being confronted directly about it. I have absolutely no idea how to make that happen, but it was fun thinking about it. :-) Sorry for rambling. :-(

I always go with my husband and don't take the cane as well. LOL. He and I go to the doctor ttogether but we also go into the appointment together too, not sure why but we do. LOL. Just feels nicer I suppose. I've never had a doctor not tell me something is comming, that would be weird. IT's always good to have a nice medicle experience, glad that worked out for you, especially with it being a new one. You got to see Swift, how nice? Did she play any of her older songs? My favorite albums were when she first started going pop. I bet she was great live. Roddy and I went to see the Scorpions in September, and they were amazing, but I'd love another good show, it's time. It is very nice the girl telling you the outfit was pretty and the way she did it. I"ve had people doing the her thing and I melt their little eggshell minds by speaking to them the same way. "Thank you, she picked it out herself." LOL. My husband Rod says they always gape. LOL. Ren fairs are always so magical and wonderful like going home. The lady at the play was hanging things on you like a coat rack. LOL. Or playing with you like you were a doll. You were far more patient than I would've been I'd have been all just hand it to me after the headphones thing. I've been accused of being rude in responding to their rude, which is truly infuriating. The lady usher explained it well. She did not know how to do it most certainly. LOL. I'd have told her please don't do that so fast... But people are so rarely inteligent. Sad but true. Just subscribed by the way, I enjoyed your video. Bella L

Thanks so much for subscribing! my husband usually does go into the room with me when I go to the doctor, but since this was just a walk in the room was pretty small and he was scared of catching what I had lol. And yes the concert was amazing! She did play a lot of her older stuff. Since it’s the eras tour, she played songs from all of her eras/albums

ICAYNA! It is so wonderful to see you again! You look amazing and sound amazing! I do agree though when y I have had so many people grab me or get into my space. Sometimes it bothers me. Other times it doesn’t. But I think the thing that bothers me the most is when they treat me as like I am a baby instead a minute old. I’m not that helpless ! Lol! How have you and your husband been doing? Sending you both lots of love and great big hugs. Take care. Until we see each other again.

A couple weeks ago I was walking to an appointment and a bus driver actually waited for me at the intersection to let me on. Which I found nice, but after I got to my destination which was the last stop of the bus, she asked a passenger to guide me... I didn't want their help honestly and I told them I was good but they did end up being helpful as part of the bus terminal had been coned off because of an upcoming event. However she was kinda dragging me around. I'd say the worst that happens to me is weird comments from sighted people and just the attention. So many people just talk to me usually to say have a nice day or something like that, but I know i's cuz of my cane. During an O&M lesson some guy was giving me a thumbs up apparently and said "great job"... I'm blind not recovering from a leg injury lol. I can walk fine but ok.

Yup love the video I have autism also as well as being blind and the touching thing oh I felt uncomfortable for you like I probably would have had to remove myself momentarily just a side step for space had a person before I got my guide dog literally pick me up and put me on my bus I am not small
