Carl and Mark are talking RC cars, join them trackside as they talk about some of their best and worst RC cars and what do they want to get next... Grassroots racing and car Performance is a priority when it comes RC .
What is your favorite and worst RC car purchase to date.
The best FTX is definitely the FTX DR8
Possibly the worst Arrma is the 3s Typhon whereas the Arrma Talion is a solid car with great handling …
We recently run the Traxxas Sledge to breaking point but again it is a great car but handling is not the best for racing.
Team Corally cars are definitely race ready and out the box handle like a dream. If the Radix 4s is anything to go by these cars are probably the best RTR grass racers.

What a fun channel! thank you! About the Typhon, i did put grease in the rear diff to open it up, and one trick is to change the slipper pad arrangement so the rear will slip the same as the front, this gives a diff-like feeling. i would recommend lowering the ride-height as much as possible. Also the stock shocks are quite alright in my opinion (after they fixed the o-rings on the v3)

I've got the Maverick Quantum+ Flux. It's very similar to that Talion but I've never tried to race it on grass and it's certainly not a basher as the axle cups have bent after little more more hopping off kerbs.

I couldnt keep the Typhon 3s. The Losi products have spoiled me as they all handle well in their designated terrain so i traded my Arrma Typhon off for a Losi Rock Rey. I have 9 Losi's, 2 Arrma's, and 5 Traxxas, 4 Eflite, 2 Proboat. The Typhon is the first one I ever got rid of. The only reason i bought it was to help a buddy out. Ran it 3 or 4 times and just couldnt take it no more. Lol

Good idea to run these types of cars with my kids to get their skills up. I’ve got a pair of Wltoys that’s we run in the park and I’ll def do this with some cones

With the WLtoys cars just make sure the grass is nice and short …

@@PopalongRC totally agree. We have a mosture of paved pathways and short grass. Also, I have the old ones so have to switch to regular xt60s so that I can get a 2000ish mah in there for decent run times

@@PopalongRC fun as they are, the 12428 and its clones gotta be one of the worst handling things I've ever driven.. but, they're lots more fun after modification into being a rock bouncer. done it to the Virhuck V-01 here.

@@PopalongRC basically followed suit to "ShenRC" Steve's 12428 build, 108 mm tires, heat+twist front A arms to put kingpins vertical, 10t pinion, and move steering link to inner hole at servo for more torque. top speed is low (9-10 mph) but gets there in 10 feet for short jumps. cut 1.5 turns off stock shock springs to soften (articulation/flex), made lower shock seals from sliced round servo grommets and oil filled them. it crawls very strong with just enough wheel speed to jump when wanted/needed, small pinion extended the run time a whole lot too with the 390 motor never working too hard. it wasn't good as a fast car, rolled over if ya sneezed. modded into a crawler/bouncer its just about unstoppable.. did change the steering links to threaded rods and ball ends (inside bottom, knuckles top) keeps front wheels parallel (no bump steer junk). very straighforward-easy once started with this as the attack plan, takes an hour or so to do it all. stock electronics don't struggle, steering is very near full lock-to-lock with more torque and more precise with stock 5 wire servo. cost = a set of tires and a pinion gear, very budget friendly.

We love the Radix 4 it is the sweet spot for a buggy like this and it is really drivable… Radix racing - who is up for that …

Try the bezgar 8 on 3s stock it copes as rated 9.6v but metal shafts cups new bearings.1/10 wheels tires .

We have tried different tyres but not really helping with the amount of roll we get from the car… been out with it again today and made some note progress but it is a lot of work for small returns .

They usually run on grass. Those kind of pure racing buggies would just get bogged down in it

We have a TLR we hope to run this summer and we are also looking at running a Schumacher LD at a local club but they are proper racers on proper tracks …

@@PopalongRC I wouldn’t worry about ‘proper track’ learning to race is what it’s about. Buying one of the racing buggies second hand works out way the best value over time. And the enjoyment factor goes up. Win win

Cheers for the advice… we normally cut the grass at this location but we’re impatient and just wanted to drive our cars …. Not much grass left on the racing line now though .
