no, the manga is actually faithful to the actual history. all the events are real, every figure that died actually dies on that point in history. obviously not everything is recorded in history so when the plot meet a certain character whose conclusion isn't recorded in the history, the author will skip it and let us know that there isn't a record stated how a certain character end up in the end.

The real life history side of this series can get pretty vague, with only the major events really getting the full picture. While everything major does follow actual history (with some fantasy embellishing) a lot of the more vague parts give the mangaka more liberty.

Personally speaking, I've had certain deaths/outcomes spoiled to me ahead of time when I was reading the manga so I would advise against checking out the history of the characters involved. The manga may be loosely based on history but follows quite closely to the tempo of what has happened in history.
