I agree, and that is why as a standard starting point I run both the low gain dipole and cp antenna when I micro. Running two cp antennas tends to accept more multi path interference in a micro use case due to its inability to reject linear polarization and both rx inputs being on an equal playing field as far as gain goes. In all practicality running dual cp antennas wouldn't even be superior to running a single cp unless there were significant differences between the two in gain, but then you have to contend with the potential for alternate path reception increases. Running this combo allows you to accept the linear polarization entirely when you are in phase with it while still being able to maintain a usable, although attenuated at 3db, signal when it is out of phase and would otherwise be horizontal/vertical cross polarized which attenuates at 20db. There are of course circumstances where the setup doesn't work well, and even some where running no antennas is absolutely a benefit.
