DayZ update 1.21 brings the best armor in the game, the new Knight Armor. With the medieval theme, the Knight Armor is the ultimate protection from melee weapons, infected, bullets, crossbow bolts, and even explosives! In this video, we're going to explore all the new pieces of armor and their protection power, check out the new loot area, and a new awesome way to repair armor. There are six new pieces of armor in patch 1.21, of which five protect you from melee, ballistic, and explosive damage. These are the chainmail top, chainmail leggings, chainmail coif, chestplate, medieval boots, and Norse helm that spawn at the new loot tag called the Historical loot tag.

im not very scared that people will wear the full chainmail + a plate carrier. theyre gonna have -20000 stamina. youre already below 1/4 stamina with a platecarrier now. theyre not gonna be able to move at all. its gonna be nice for online raids though, having like a jugg armor for the base fight :')

I have an account with full chain and platecarrier and still have about 1/5 stamina. Can still run and the fact that I can tank two cr527 shots and not go uncon and be white health is a major plus.

Something I think people are overlooking here is how heavy this all is. Wearing full medieval gear will leave you with no stamina even if you have nothing else

seems to be more for set pvp battles like raiding a base or fighting in big groups rather than general use. makes me happy its rare bc a large group w this raiding a base or running a military zone seems near impossible to fight.

I think to balance it against Livonia, they should make them findable in containers at the only two contaminated areas (ship wreck and pavlovo)..Oh and also in the only 3 Kids Lunapark (as if they were disguises for entertainement purposes)

bro who cares all that matters is that you can now armor stack in the game. It gets a bit stale when you get a plate carrier and a helmet and boom you already have best in slot armor. More armor needs to be added on the leg slots and shirts because its ridiculous you still get 1 shot after grinding 6 hours to get loot

Most items on vanilla are way too common . I don’t even think food should spawn on zombies . Add a fishing and hunting mechanic jus to never use them …

@@redshift912 When you're inland hunting and fishing is the way. Canned food in houses is rear, I agree on the zombies too they shouldn't have any food barring a dry/rotten fruit, brains, stones, guts & odd piece of animal meat etc. Also if I had it my way id be making animals rear and harder to kill or even attack you eg: wild boars, but id push vegetables and green house growth, this would force end game geared players to hang around in areas for longer, this would mean there's more of a chance to be caught out as they currently have the advantage of solely just player searching, where as others still have an eye on improving their loot.

I think the chainmail providing so much protection against bullets kind of shows the short-comings of the overly simplistic damage and health system in DayZ. It should protect well against the crossbow and melee, but do very little against most bullets, yet because the crossbow and bullets share the same type of damage (projectile), lowering the bullet protection also lowers the crossbow protection. I remember them posting in a dev blog yeeaarrs ago about some players wanting a more in depth and hardcore health system. Maybe now would be a good time to start working on it. I'd love the organ hitboxes to do something again.

On chernarus i managed to find the norse helm, at the island with a castle on it. You can find all sorts of gear near the boats, on that island.

Im in the process of trying to gear up my guy to have ghille with chain legs and chest along with a plate carrier. Going to be pretty difficult to manage space i think. But i always love a challenge. Think im just going to rock 1 gun to save space . Already have svd which is probably my best option for short and long range. Have the ghille and chain legs so only need chest and plate carrier and pouches to go

Yeahhh the bug fixes are definitely the highlight of this update. This stuff is cool but it still doesn’t add anything for the god awful endgame. I want something to do besides build a base or PvP until I’m dead. They should add an oil rig or something and it needs to be actually hard to work towards and logging out on it or in it needs to be not allowed. People logging off in the bunker is one of the most annoying things. Not because you can’t kill them but because you get 1 level deep kill one guy who spawns in and you have everything and more you could want, it’s lame that I don’t even gotta do the entire bunker to get the stuff. Really kills the whole build up.

Wobo, what do you know about chunks in dayz? How big it is? I’m very disappointed when we kill each other and I very fast come to death place and there is no any bodies, only weapon that was in hands

dayz isn’t loaded in chunks but rather the server is loaded at all times and entities are spawned in depending on the distance you are from an area. on chernaurus zombie bodies will despawn around 2.5 minutes after leaving a 300 meter radius from the body. likewise zombies will spawn into a town when you enter the approximately 300 meter radius around the town. if you are further than that and the zombies haven’t spawned yet it means there is no one in the town. player bodies despawn around 15 minutes after you leave a couple hundred meter radius of the body but will stay spawned in on vanilla servers indefinitely if you stay close to them. all of this can be changed on modded servers so may not apply everywhere but will apply to official servers.

there is a big problem with having it all on, the weight. you will have fuck all stamina and wont be able to run much, climb at all or steady your aim. even though the new clothing will have insane armor ill still be playing with ballistic vest and burlap back pack.

@@glitchedgameryt Trust me, people will still abuse it. Making the time to kill longer is a good thing, don't get me wrong, but this is not an immersive way of implementing it. Immersion wise, I would be fine with the armour if it only gave melee and perhaps low calibre protection (.22, .380, buckshot, improvised bow arrows, maaaaybe 9mm), making it effective and fun in coastal pvp (I could imagine IRL non experienced survivors being paranoid and making use of anything that can give them some protection, also being able to wear it since they don't carry around much else, etc.) Squads running around with assault rifles and chainmail shouldn't be a thing.

I didn't forget, It's just not a castle... It's the ruins of a castle. Ruins of castles don't have the same loot spawns that castles do. If it has a gate house or tower with stairs, it is a historical loot tag location.

The numbers do seem too good to be true but me and my buds have used this chainmail clothing and it's hardly noticeable. It's not worth protection when it weighs 4 tons and you can only carry 3 cans of beans before your inventory is full.

Why the hell does chainmail have ballistic protection capabilities? Chainmail can't even stop 22 lr

This is absolutely ridiculous. How the hell does medival metal armor defend better from a grenade or a bullet than kevlar? There's a very good reason soldiers aren't walking around dressed as crusaders. So the loot is gonna get wiped because the devs wanted to add an infinite ammo bolt that has flying arrows sticking out of bodies and metal armor somehow being better than some vests at stopping bullets? A bit of clothing that SOMEHOW stops my legs from being broken by shots? Lovely, I'm now gonna have enemies tanking my shots just because they have a plate carrier or whatever with metal under it.

Its not better than the other armor though, which none of, by the way, is Kevlar It can be good, and yeah, it's too good imo, but a plate carrier is still better than the chain+chestplate, granted by only about 10 health damage, but yea. The armor should be slightly nerfed, but it's in no way better than a carrier, especially after weight and storage is taken in account

@@packwolf445 My issue is that it's far too strong and that combining that with a vest will be too brutal. Also, the video explicitly mentioned that you can tank 5 saiga shotgun shots before you die with the chainmail. That's just too ridiculous, because it'll make you too much of a tank for geared players if combined with a plate carrier, and almost impossible to kill for new-ish spawns.

@@EnclaveEmily that doesn't account for getting knocked out, the chain mail doesn't provide any protection against ballistic shock damage so you will still get knocked in 2 shots by the slugs, also slugs suck in this game use buck shot lol.

@@keithdavid5206 no, the norse helm specifically does not spawn on chernaurus it has nothing to do with chance, what he described was a glitch that has now been resolved by the devs

@@austincod21 The game being old has nothing to do with why blood appears out of nowhere an on item. And yes they would change something that has been in the game for a while. They’re reworking infected later this year and changing nwaf.

Meh with a car and the ability to atleast manage your kit Its not that bad honestly. The real fear is running into 3 or 4 peeps all decked out in full armour and machine guns....your dead as a solo

If medieval armour was bulletproof then knights probably wouldn't have stopped existing when gunpowder became mass producible.

@JB the game isnt meant to be realistic dude, if it was a 556 would go straight through any helmet in the game, just accept the fact that the knight armor gives you a small bit of ballistic protection and move on, its too heavy and anyone wearing it will be a easy target so soon barely anyone would be wearing it plus its rare

I was talking about the use of body armor (any type realy) in our era during a zombie apocalypse scenario. If you live in europe, finding some type of historical replica would be somewhat rare but far from impossible (where i live i would have to travel less to find a 15th century breastplate replica than to go to a the city to find a stabproof vest or a military zone for a bulletproof vest. ) And no, using a gun against zombies as a lone survivor or a small group would be the worst idea. ( have you ever watch a zombie movie dude ? )
