Yeah since I moved to Sony I use the FX3 as my main camera and the ZV-E10 as my second one and I’m quite happy with that combo.

Just came across your channel and this is great material. I'm excited. I went to my local photo center and placed the Sony 6400 on layaway so, I'll be retiring from the iPhone soon and been watching a bunch of reviews/setups and feel like your vids are very easy to understand. I am using panasonic G9 and Olympus 40-150 2.8 to shoot soccer games. I am still struggling with the autofocus, and I am thinking that the poor ND filter I've bought is one of the causes of that. Do you think it is possible? I can't believe that the camera+lens set is the problem.

The camera+lens combo shouldn't be a major problem but Panasonic's autofocus technology has never been great to begin with. Otherwise the ND filter could be a factor but it would have to be very dirty or something like that. basically making it harder for the camera to detect the outline of people and objects in your shot.

correct. If you set the shutter to record, it will only affect your recording start and stop.

Premiere Pro is one of the most professional platforms so it's normal to feel overwhelmed at the beginning. Honestly, it's just practice and repetition really. Don't expect to make great videos full of visual effects from the start. Focus on telling a story well or editing to music and go from there. There are plenty of tutorials on KZfaq that can help you with the basics of Premiere but if you want something a bit more sports specific, I have a playlist on my channel dedicated to editing tips.

Great video! I shoot canon and use a combo of back button focus (for reacquiring) and manual focus. Normally I prioritize single point focus.

@@BeyondTheGame_E a little bit of everything! I found these setting worked well for basketball, and then I do a bit more manual focus for field sports when I'm behind the goal line or when athletes are running towards the camera (baseball home plate to first, for example). Lacrosse is super tough, because following the tiny white/yellow ball sometimes feels impossible when combined with the player head gear that can disrupt my autofocus

@@BeyondTheGame_E first thing that comes to mind is to shoot a split second longer than you think you need after a goal. I think the immediate reaction is to want to pan to the celebrating player, but I've had a few goals you wouldn't know went in if not for seeing the net move!

Hey mate, thanks heaps for these tips. Your channel has helped me a lot with my amateur sports filming (actually, surfing sport). I use a Panasonic G85 in AF-C mode (with tracking focus) and it works great. However, I have a minor question- if you don't mind... In my case, when shooting from the land (surfers in the water catching waves)- do I need to re-focus (pressing half shutter button) every time a different surfer catches a wave (although I remain at the same position waiting for one or another surfer to drop in) to retain and lock the focus over and over again ? .... or is the camera smart enough to keep and do the auto-focus by having me just to press the rec (fully pressed shutter button) ? By re-focusing every time, I'm afraid to loose the action. I hope my question makes sense. :) Thanks legend!

Hey man, when the camera is focus tracking, you should see a white square frame following your subject around. As long as the square is on the person you want, there's not need to adjust anything. But if it picks up someone else or disappears completely, you should try to re-establish focus with you shutter. Hope this helped.

Quick question - do you ever use AUTO ISO? I like the idea, but shooting outside sometimes and changing from shooting in the shade to in the sun, it works well just something doesn’t look so smooth the transition. Thanks!

There’s no specific settings for those conditions. All you can do is expose your shot properly while keeping the iso as low as possible, and hope for the best. The lack of quality probably comes from the fact that your camera doesn’t offer a lot of dynamic range so it struggles to expose properly both bright and dark spots in the same image.

Let’s say hypothetically :) you are running a two camera set up, one for the more cinematic shots on a small tripod/monopod and another on a tripod 12’ up panning the entire field/game of soccer/football. For the one up in the air, any thoughts on keeping players in focus as the unit is panning and they are moving? Players on same side of field are closer to camera of course, others far away. Prime lens, no zoom other than potential clear image zoom but haven’t used. It seems to jump out of focus randomly even when not panning. Fstop currently at 10.

If you have a very big distance to cover, F10 might not be enough to have everything in focus. Simply go as high as you can really. I'm thinking somewhere between F16-22. Once everything is in focus, you can probably also turn off autofocus and stay in manual to avoid any changes or surprises later on.
