Great review as always, thanks for sharing. I've been checking out the Arrma Granite Grom but its a mega @1/18 but, this truck seems like a better option and riding on a 3s seems like it tackles everything. Hope they do a Christmas sale on it.

@@RoadsideRCA little off topic, i've purchased 2 bumpers from amazon for my Typhon 3s blx and i had to return them because they were too big. Do you have any links that you can share for a typhon 3s bashing bumper? The bumpers on amazon don't say what car can be used for it and they don't show the measurements. I went to arrma forum but all they showed were pics and i asked but they didn't have the model number, they said, senton, big rock, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm really glad i found your channel, great info on reviews.

Hey Troy, love the show. I recently got an HBX 2997a and it's great! I've heard a lot about tuning up the truck with differential fluid, maybe get a little more torque to the back tires. Do you have a recommendation for what weight diff fluid to use? I saw your video on the tire upgrade, I'm considering that as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! 🤙

Great question! Honestly, no idea what the fluid is from the factory. I would start with something around 100k and see how it goes.

Nice video! - how do you like this compared to the other new kid on the block - MJX H14BM? We have 3 16889A Pros in the family and still love them but it is hard to ignore the 2997A with a center diff.

@@RoadsideRC May i ask, why do you like the 2997a over the hypergo 14210 but would prefer the am-d12 over the 2997a. I am just asking beacause I am hoping to buy a good durable basher (all terrain) and am divided between the hypergo 14210 and 2997a . Would love some insight😁

Hi, if u remember or can check quickly pls, does this rc have a dead zone in throttle? Heard that when u press 1/4th of trigger, nothing happens, until u press a little bit further... (different from a throttle delay, where any press on trigger, eventually inputs, but delayed).

the only thing that keeps me from buying this one over the rlaarlo AM-D12 is that the battery tray is too small. you can barely find a 3S battery that fits. But.. this has a center diff that no other cars in this price range has..

The Rlaarlo is a very nice vehicle. I would not hesitate on it. For a basher, the center diff has never been that big of a deal to me. In racing, it is another story.

Great review man, thank you! I have seen many reviews of the 2997a! it's amazing! unfortunately seems not available in Europe(even fro Bangood AliExpress and Amazon)... I think probably I will go for the 2996a, also if I can't use 3s batteries is still very good... any suggestions?

When I see cheaper company options like this one feel dumb for going with an expensive brand like Traxxas. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Rustler 4x4 VXL but when I see stock things included like esc fan, motor fan, lipo batteries and charger, metal parts like the drive line components, suspension components. Plus even at times including little baggies of spare replacement parts.

I do agree. The "big" names charge the prices...but they are not always really worth it. Does this truck compare to a Arrma Kraton 6S? No way. Huge difference. But for many folks who just want a simple basher, I really think some of these budget brands are more than enough. Example: the number of folks who start with something like a Tamiya kit. These vehicles are 100% the better choice.

I found the HyperGo a little too heavy for it's own good. The smaller size also made it harder to control.

I have been able to find parts on Amazon and through Haiboxing directly. Hasn't been an issue.

yes those shells are cheap and yes they will break the first crash , you can use fiber glass tape and coat the entire underneath side it will make it virtually indestructible and at most add like tiny bit of weight a trick I've been using for 10 years with no problem on those cheap china shells

when you use adjectives like "massive" when describing on of the smallest 2s lipo bats put into a 200 dollar rc truck, you aren't helping. you are in fact seeming desperate to make a mountain out of a mole hill to gloss over it's mediocrity

Ha! That is legit. I'm used to seeing 850-1000mah batteries in these cars, so it really did feel abnormally large.
