@@foodiesonly9794 I have yet to check out Smokey and the Brisket BBQ in La Mesa, it’s a new bbq joint in town with good reviews so far. I can tell you that I frequently go to the Big Front Door in University Heights on Park Blvd and get the smoked pulled pork sandwich. This is a sandwich shop with all kinds of options, and the pulled pork is really good. I like it when I only want to get a bbq sandwich and not a big plate of random bbq food.

I took my family to Smokin Js after we watched this. My kids split a Cali-J burrito, my wife had a 3x3 platter, and I had a Smokin J sandwich. All great. Killer brisket!

Think ya missed the boat on this one, not including Grand Ole bbq in Flinn Springs or Bull’s Smokin BBQ on Morena Blvd. To include Phils, you may as well include Dickeys. Geez.

I've had Cali Comfort and Phil's and they are AMAZING. One other one you need on your list is Lil Alex BBQ in Bonita. The beef ribs are second to none!!! I know what I'm having this weekend!!! Thanks, Jay!

I am gonna try Abbeys and I the jjs. Just want to mention a couple of things about Phil’s and Cali comfort. Always eager to please the customer Phil’s will fix any issue. They aim to please. Also Phil is just a real down to Earth nice man. He’s been in business a long time and I wish him even more success! Now I have a disabled child. We live very close to Cali comfort. We took my daughter there for her birthday in her wheelchair. My daughter has issues and sometimes she screams due to pain. We went to Cali comfort. They accommodated us so that she would be as comfortable as possible. Treated us like gold. Went out of their way to assure she had a wonderful meal and brought her a peach cobbler. We order the tailgater for our family. They are awesome!

Went to Abbeys for the 1st time yesterday with my co-workers and I gotta be honest. It was legit. Got the No 1 Platter with potato salad and rice & beans. Side of link and side of burnt ends. Everything at that place was handsdown legit!!! The corn bread and burn ends......FIIIIIIIRE!!!

Hey Jay, I am surprised that "Felix's BBQ with Soul" didn't make your list. TBH, I would recommend the OG location in Oceanside, but there's a branch in San Marcos. Rib tips are amazing, but I like their other non-bbq stuff too, like their catfish and collard greens. And as an added bonus, if you like oatmeal raisin cookies, Felix's has amazing ones *drool*

I’ve been a fan for a while but lately it’s been very hit or miss. Sometimes the ribs and chicken are really dry and rubbery but when it’s good it’s very good.

When I lived in RB, I went to Brett's BBQ. They have one in Encinitas too last time I was back to visit. Went to the Phil's by Sports Arena and was underwhelmed. Will give it another try next time I'm in town.

There's this place on 5th Street they make our sweet BBQ pork ribs it's downtown San Diego on 5th I know the Chinese place I love it there I think about it all the time and I'm from Indiana when I come out there I try to get a chance to eat the pork BBQ sweet ribs the best
