I know, I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff and probably shouldn't dive right into it but I'm so excited at the amount of possibilities with coffee!! I bought a Keurig btw and even if it comes with K-pods I also bought k-coffee filters so that I can grind my own coffee beans to use with it if I'd like. only problem is that it's not an espresso machine. Cappuccino's and Latte's. which is fine for me for now lol.

@@JamiesLife The bottomless portafilter I bought is a CrossCreek 54mm Espresso Bottomless Portafilter. There may be some better ones out there, but this one is currently working fine. My filter is a Normcore, which a lot of people like. And the tamper I bought was a spring-loaded IKAPE. There are so many great products out there, it is really hard to choose. However, when it comes to tampers, my opinion is that just about anything metal with a good-feeling palm hold is a gazillion times better than a plastic one.

Can you please go through which portafilter, basket, and scale you used? (Mostly the first two things) On another note, I'm working on my first home espresso setup, and after my initial research, I planned to buy this exact grinder and machine combo. I ended up having some room in the budget, so I planned on getting the baratza sette 270, and now the Turin DF64 gen 2. I also landed on getting the Bambino Plus due to the better steam wand, and the actuator that cuts off the water flow once you have finished pulling the shot. Now, I'm tempted to instead buy the Turin Legato, but reviews of the system are limited right now. Thoughts?

I have this setup a dig it - especially for the price. The tamper is definitely the first to be upgraded, I think (I went with Normcore) and it's unfortunate that the machine is so light that you need to hold on to it to lock in the portafilter. Breville makes good baskets but the stock PF is dumb. It's hard to consider upgrading when this thing has that fast thermalcoil that is ready to go in 5 seconds. As for the ESP: don't get the Baratza portafilter holder - it's terrible and they don't care to have it returned. However, I do recommend the single dose hopper to get the retained grounds out a lot easier. 17-18 clicks on the ESP is a good place to start.
@lealinds94964 ай бұрын
I bought a Normcore combination distributor/tamper for my upgrade. Well worth it. I'm thinking I should pick up a rubber pad like in the video - the machine sliding around on the counter is the only negative that I've found.

When I read the baratza's manual, it said not to wet the burrs because they oxidize. I've been wanting to us an atomizer to spray water on the beans before grinding, but haven't to be cautious.
