@@SILKYsaw You probably convinced me to buy the biggest Genki Temagari. I'm still considering also the Katanaboy 650 or 1000, and its effectiveness in the preapration of firewood. I already have a couple of Silky saws, and at this moment the most effective seems to be Ibuki (the newer version), at least as it goes about soft and dry but soft wood. To the very dense and hard wood I use Zubat 330-10. It cuts quite well, but it is a bit small. How do you think, which Silky saws wood be the fastest for the work with firewood around the home? I think that Katanaboy 1000 might be too unwieldy, and require a lot of effort to prepare for a fast and cleal cut, so Temagari is overall much more practical and handy. What is your opinion?

@@stasiastes Yes, I think the Temagari would be brilliant for your needs. You may also like the Katana 500. The tooth size is very good and more suited to a variety of uses. 😃 Nita

So frustrating and its not just vanity thats holding me back from wearing them more often, but it irritates my nose. And not bad enough to wear contacts, so still got to come to terms with it, 😅

Please forgive the correction and feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. I do not believe silky saws are hollow ground. If they where hollow ground they would have a concavity that could be observed using a straight edge. A hollow grind would weaken the structure of the blade while offering no advantages. I have inspected the four silkys i own and have observed no such concavity. I am not positive of this term but i believe it is a "reverse flat grind" or "reverse full flat grind". That means the blade has a flat taper from the blade edge or teeth to the spine. Not to be confused with a taper grind which would be the same but run the length of the blade. It's confusing, I know.lol I loved the video as always. I only offered my correction as you are fast becoming the authority and go-to for information on silky saws. Sorry for the tome. 🍻

Hi Dirk, don't apologise we love questions, as it makes us think and confirm details to make sure that we are giving the correct info.😃 Now this topic has been a confusing one for a while now, and I think its sometimes because of language barriers which can cause confusion too. Silky will sometimes write taper ground, but their blades are thinner in the centre than what they are on the spine and the width of the teeth. This is very important, for 2 reasons. 1. having a thicker spine than the centre of the blade actually gives the blade strength. 2. The blade having a narrow centre allows wood chips to discharge while cutting. If this was not the case, wood chip would get stuck between the blade and the wood. This is also another reason why Silky's have such a smooth feel, while cutting. Now I'm not an engineer or specialist in this area of science, so I always go back to those more knowing than me. (That would be many) So this is the information the engineers at Silky have given us, when we questioned them on this subject. I hope this makes sense. As a side point they are now in their 101st year of making and perfecting these amazing saws. 😊 Nita.

"Dang nabbit Leroy! Now they've gone and got some big ol' fixed blade saws and the big one has Grizzly teeth!" "Well then, git one Jeb!" "I will Leroy! Then I'm gunna saw me some gopher and raccoon." Oh dear, this was going somewhere silly so I'll stop before I really embarrass myself. I like that big saw and if it cuts 30cm logs then that's pretty good. Oh, and sharpenable is a big advantage for the places I'll be heading.
