Can this monitor able to record and playback 4K 60p and 120p? I mean not external recording into the monitor, just able to see while you are recording in the camera itself.

Under £200 sounds great for that monitor, particularly if they do some firmware tweaks! Please could you do a vid explaining LUTs? I’d love to hear your way of explaining it! :-)

Hey Chris! I want to try this monitor on my Fuji X-Pro3, but it only has a usb-c mount. I can get a little converter, but I just wanted to know if that connection would still be possible, or if you have any insight into adapting HDMI to USB-C with Fuji cameras. Great video!!

Hey Chris, is the upgraded version of this monitor still a good choice? I'm an Xt-3 shooter and NEED USB-C power options for the monitor. Since i shoot Fuji, i have no interest in buying Sony or Canon batteries for my monitor. Is there a better USB-C powered monitor option out there in the sub $300 range? Thanks so much. Your opinion is always spot on.

Hmm, Chris when you did the review of the Andycine x7, you did say one should never bother with a camera monitor that has under 1000 nits....screen is just to dark in bright sunlight...

Does this support 4K 60? A lot of the other options under $200 only go to 4k 30.

Youn need to put the output HDMI on the menu to HD and the recorder on 4K

Hey Chris, thanks for this video. Yes please do a video on LUTs. Also, at 7:40, it seems to me that you say that we can preview on the X-T4 with a custom LUT applied. Did I understand correctly ? I crawled through the menus and can't find any such option. Can you explain it to me please ? I would love to apply the leaming lut to the EVF/LCD preview while shooting HLG.

Sure... the function is called 'f log view assist'. Here's the info about it: fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t4/menu_setup/screen_set-up/index.html#f-log_view_assist. It's located in the screen setup menus. It gives you a tone-corrected preview (equivalent to BT.709) when recording or viewing F-log movies.

Ah ok. But it seems you can't use a custom LUT. That's really sad. I will test tomorrow whether it works also when shooting in HLG.

@@pal2tech so I can confirm that FLog View Assist doesn't work when shooting in HLG. That's a pity as I'm not yet ready to accept the crop imposed by FLog. :(

If the P6 doesn't recognize your usb drive, it's been formatted on a mac. Been struggling with this, I even returned the screen, and got a new one. Same problem. As soon as I used a usb drive formatted on a pc, it worked. Hope it helps if you got the same problem 😉

I use both Mac and PC. I just tested and it works. However... make sure your thumb drive is formatted with FAT 32. Google how to do that on your mac.

Hi Chris, I think it's not a good idea to put the monitor and the mic on the hot shoe of the camera? 🤔 But.. a great video like always. I would also like to learn more about Luts! 🧐. STAY SAFE!

Good point! Yeah, too much weight/movement can damage the hotshoe for sure. It's even worse when attaching an Atomos Ninja V because it's so heavy. I'll mention this caution/point next time I attach something like that. Thanks! 👍

LOL. My mission (and work) is now clear. LUT = Look Up Table. Used to add a color grade (look) to the footage. F-Log = Think of it as shooting RAW but for video. More videos about this coming for sure! 👍

I should have mentioned that sorry. About 1 frame. Typical of monitors in that range, and actually a bit better than a few others I've tried.

Im looking to get a monitor. This looks good, but does anyone know if 500 nits is actually enough for bright sunny days in los angeles???

It usually is enough. Direct sunlight will blow this out but that's what you have the sun shield for. 500 nits is close to many phones. And just for comparison: Most monitors and TVs run at 150-200 nits. 200 bits already hurt my eyes when it's too dark in the room but is enough when there is some sunlight coming from the window besides me.

Hmm, so does that mean I can get a $1000 XS10 and a $200 Porky (That's what I heard all the time... Porky Monitor....:D) and I am getting a small XT4? As in, can I have unlimited recording and record 10-bit on XS10 with this monitor?

LOL, Google Porkys. Funny movie from '80's. Anyway, no you can't record on this portkeys monitor -- only view. For 10-bit recording, you'll need to get something like the Atomos Ninja V monitor (which I highly recommend).
