I like to pickup old interesting paddles and modify them into what I like in a paddle. Like cutting them into the the shape and style and strip them down and refinish them to my liking. It’s a fun thing to do. Thanks.

Just bought one three weeks ago and already used it on 82 miles of the Willamette River in Oregon. Love this paddle!

That paddle costs what I paid for my canoe, which came with two paddles. It is sweet tho.

With the blade being significantly shorter then say an ottertail paddle, would one shopping for this style paddle match the shaft length of my ottertail or get a longer shaft length to put the paddle further into the water?

Match the shaft length, so this paddle will be shorter, if you get a bent shaft make it two more inches shorter. For example I have a 56 inch otter tail style and 54 to 52 inch straight shaft paddles made for shallow water or a racing stroke and my bent shaft paddles range from 52 to 48.
