Here's my review of the Cotopaxi Allpa 35L Backpack for One Bag Travel. This bag has lasted me through South East Asia and Europe, I've been using it for about 8 months now and wanted to share my full pros and cons.

I bought the 28L version to meet that Personal item requirement, and let me tell ya this bag has changed my life. I can literally pack everything I need for an entire week, Seriously!! I've ditched the carry-on all together in favor of the Allpa 28L and have been perfectly fine. The fact that it opens like a suitcase, helps me see everything all at once and stay super organized on the go, I love it!!

Hi. Just returned from 5 weeks in Europe, needing both Winter and Summer gear. I took the Cotopaxi Allpa 28L which we just purchased for this trip and I can HIGHLY recommend it. It was great and we took just under 7kg and so were able to take the bag as cabin baggage - brilliant bag and the only one I will use for any travel from now on. Love their products!

I’m considering 28l allpa was well, but I’m also wanting 35l for the bigger space. Having 28l is great because there’s no doubt that airlines will question it whether it be personal item or carry on. I still can’t decide. I might go 28

@@LostUndertheSky i have same questions. Did u decide 28l or 35L? (Im travelling a lot with cabin bagage and nowadays and cabin bagage sizes are very small)

@@brkylmz i went with 28L. but it was very uncomfortable on my back since i packed it full and the pack weight got up to 8-9 kg. if you can get it down to 7 kg or less and dont pack it to capacity and pack it only up to 75% full, it's a great pack. I went with 28L because it's almost like a personal carry if you don't pack it full like i mentioned. and there in lies the problem with the 28L. you really have to manage how you pack and you gotta pack really light. i'm thinking of getting a 35L allpa in the future. i feel like that's a sweet spot. I could have used the extra space for souvenirs and stuff I bought while traveling if i went with 35L. 35L is pretty much carry on size, so if you decide to go that size, i think you'll be okay.

Given how much room you have in that 35L, the 28L Cotopaxi might be great for you. My wife and I were traveling with the 42L and we loved the layout but it was a bit too heavy when full so we switched to carryon luggage when we need that much gear, but we got the 28Ls and now use it constantly for weekend trips & longer trips to places with warm weather. Same great organization, but it is never too heavy, fits everywhere.

does this work as a personal item? eg would it fit underneath the seat in front of you on a plane?

Maybe on some airlines and if it wasn’t totally full, it would be too big for most though

In 2017, I had the 55L osprey. It was the 40L with the 15L bag you can diattach. I didn't have a problem on Ryan Air.

At the moment I've been looking at the fairview and Cotopaxi....Bit confused on your choice to downsize as this 35 L bag is too much for you but you've mentioned the fairview 40L or more was too small for you?

I just bought the 42 L version. As far as I know it will work for a carry-on throughout the world. Do you have any alternative information? Also you mentioned that there is a waterproof version. I have not seen that in any of my research. Do you know where I can find this waterproof version?
