Not brussel sprouts but bean sprouts. Brussel sprouts look like miniature cabbage.

A part of me wishes that I was Malaysian. But in the heart and spirit I probably AM a Malaysian. Any Malaysian dish that is prepared with care, passion and respect is delicious. So yes, the dish is very delicious.

Its not brussels sprouts lah..Bean sprouts Bean sprouts..sweet soysauce..best if taugay is added last..then heat switched off immediately!The best CKT was always made with pork oil (lard) which is disallowed nowadays due to health care (& religion )reasons.

that is not brussel sprouts ,it is called bean sprouts,(brussel sprouts are small green cabbage in form of the shape of lime ) - green herbs that was add in the dish is actually chives.

The green herb is chives, and the sprouts are bean sprouts not Brussel sprouts. Yum yum

"Best" is a matter of perspective my friend. This dish has been the "best" for us, compared to others. If you have a recommendation of another chef in another location - we would be delighted to do a short documentary. Good health to us all!

your video camera gets to enjoy the full aroma. LOL. when i'd visited Penang many years ago, i came across an elderly pushcart Char Koay Teow hawker nearby Anson Road. he'd used raw firewood (not charcoal) to heat his wok and he'd cooked my order of Char Koay Teow with a big white duck egg. he'd served the food on a plate for me to eat by the side of the road. that was the best plate of Char Koay Teow i'd eaten ever since.

i am afraid that hawker wasn't the one as shown in your video link. it was umpteen years ago that i'd chanced upon that particular elderly hawker pushing his wooden pushcart along Anson Road. his pushcart was an old fashioned type, made of old wood, no aluminum sheet covering, and no glass display shelf. i guess that hawker was not around anymore.

Even though char kwuey teow is well known as a Malaysian dish, let's not be willfully blind and acknowledge that it was introduced by the Chinese and they originally (some still do) use lard from porcine source. Nothing wrong with that.

Shrimp Lo Mein?? Char kway teow, literally "stir-fried ricecake strips", is a popular noodle dish in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. The dish is considered a national favourite in Malaysia and Singapore. It is made from flat rice noodles or kway teow of approximately 1 cm or about 0.5 cm in width, stir-fried over very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, a small quantity of belachan, whole prawns, deshelled blood cockles, bean sprouts and chopped Chinese chives. The dish is commonly stir-fried with egg, slices of Chinese sausage, fishcake, beansprouts, and less commonly with other ingredients.Char kway teow is traditionally stir-fried in pork fat, with crisp croutons of pork lard. In Penang, Char kway teow is commonly served on a piece of banana leaf on a plate, so as to enhance the aroma on the noodles.

Thai people call "noodle" is " Koay teow " same in Penang. Char koay teow look like "pad-Thai " of Thailand .

What a joke So called "The Best"...in Penang. I think he is the best char koay teow chef in that cafe only. He stand no chance in Penang. Just looked at the number of customers he has in the video. Practically an average time to queue for a good plate of char koay teow in Penang would probably need a min time of 45min on normal days and 90 min during Chinese New Year. And usually they prepared 4 to 5 plates per fried coz too many customers.
